  1.  Welcome to NCompass!  (version 1.2)
  2.  NCompass for Windows is a complete and versatile desktop
  3.  mapping/travel guide package. Use NCompass to navigate around your
  4.  country, your state or city. Find and identify roads, display any
  5.  points of interest or track distances along your route. NCompass
  6.  combines all the information of a travel map with the graphical
  7.  power of Windows to give you a full featured desktop tool.
  8.  
  9.  Additionally, NCompass is fully updatable. Use the NCompass maps and
  10.  databases as is, modify them, or create your own. Collect a library of
  11.  maps and data on your PC for your own personal travel atlas. A few clicks
  12.  of your mouse is all it takes to move around the map and display
  13.  requested information in colorful detail.

  15.  Go back and forth between maps quickly and easily. Zoom in or Zoom out.
  16.  Copy all or part of your display to the Clipboard for use in other
  17.  Windows programs. These are just some of the many functions available
  18.  when using NCompass.

  21.  NCompass and wish to continue using it, you must become a registered
  22.  user.

  31.  For submitting your payment, you will receive the registered version
  32.  of NCompass (containing many additional features), a fully illustrated
  33.  manual, plus the ability to order extremely low cost, detailed maps and
  34.  databases directly from the 3cs library. We even build custom maps and
  35.  databases (call or write for details). You'll get information on how to
  36.  create maps and databases from scratch, and how to link your maps together
  37.  so that double-clicking on a point, expands it into a complete map of its
  38.  own.
  39.  Additionally, registered users are put on our mailing list so that when
  40.  updates are available, you'll be able to request them (for a minimal cost).

  54.    **Install NCompass from DOS**

  56.  1. Create a sub-directory for NCompass
  57.      Example: C> MD \NCOMPASS
  58.  
  59.  2. Copy the files from the floppy drive to your hard drive
  60.      Example: C> COPY A:*.* C:\NCOMPASS
  61.  
  62.  3. DeCompress the NCompass files by UnZipping NC.EXE
  63.      Example: C> \NCOMPASS\NC

  68.  Now install the program into Windows

  70.  6. Start Windows... type WIN
  71.  
  72.  7. Select the File Menu NEW function
  73.  
  74.  8. Select Program Item and click OK
  75.  
  76.  9. Use the browse option to search for NCompass. The browse option
  77.     is selected from the Program Item properties dialog box.
  78.  
  79. 10. Find and select the NCOMPASS.EXE file located in the subdirectory
  80.     you created. Once selected, click OK to install.

  82.  Installation is now complete... double click on the NCompass icon to
  83.  start the program.

  92.    NCompass comes with 3 sample Maps from the 3cs Library.
  93.    They are meant too give you an idea of the capabilities of NCompass.

  95.        1. Color United States Map
  96.            - Shows you the color bitmap capabilities of NCompass.
  97.              Does not contain any roads and only the states for
  98.              databases, but you are free to add your own.
  99.        2. Michigan Map
  100.            - Contains cities, counties (political boundry) and
  101.              some lakes.
  102.          *note*  Many cities (in the cites database) are listed more
  103.              than once. The database actually zip code centroids.
  104.              Cities with more than one zip code are listed multiple
  105.              times.
  106.        3. Grand Rapids (MI)
  107.            - This map really shows off the power of NCompass. The
  108.              Grand Rapids travel guide contains all roads, streets
  109.              and highways. Click on any intersection, and nCompass
  110.              will tell you the street names. Also given are hospitals,
  111.              city parks and a few points of interest.
