  5.           WHAT'S NEW IN GRABBER(tm) VERSION 3.94

  8.           For those who are curious, Version 3.94 of GRABBER, a shareware
  9.           release, contains the following additions and improvements.
  10.           Corresponding changes have been made to the registered release.

  13.           *  GREDIT.EXE, GR2ASCII.EXE and GR2ANSI.EXE  --  These utilities
  14.                                                            are being released
  15.              as part of the unregistered GRABBER package for the first time
  16.              with Version 3.94.  GREDIT is a text-only screen editor and has
  17.              its own documentation file.  GR2ASCII and GR2ANSI are command-line
  18.              utilities which convert captured text screens to plain ASCII and
  19.              ANSI graphics formats, respectively.  They are documented in
  20.              the CONVERT.DOC file.

  23.           *  GRABBER.EXE and GRTXT.EXE  --  In both of these programs, the
  24.                                             old command-line configuration
  25.              options have been changed from cryptic "slash-somethingorother"
  26.              switches to more or less plain English words.  For example,
  27.              /M+ and /M- have been changed to MOUSE and NOMOUSE, respectively,
  28.              and /U has been changed to UNLOAD.  The new vocabulary is listed
  29.              in the revised .DOC files for these programs.

  32.           *  GRABBER.EXE and GRTXT.EXE  --  In both programs, it is now
  33.                                             possible to define a hotkey which
  34.              consists only of a combination of shift keys, i.e. <Ctrl>, <Alt>
  35.              and the <Shift> keys.  This may allow GRABBER and GRTXT to capture
  36.              screens from some foreground applications which commandeer the
  37.              keyboard hardware almost (but not quite) entirely.  Experiment.

  40.           *  GR2PCX.EXE and GR2GIF.EXE  --  Corrected a serious bug which
  41.                                             had crept into the previous
  42.              revision (October 1991) of these utilities.  The bug caused a
  43.              system crash when these programs were used to convert a super-VGA
  44.              graphic image on a system which does not have VESA BIOS compat-
  45.              ibility.  Some users assumed that the shareware issue of GRABBER
  46.              was not intended to be able to handle super-VGA conversions, but
  47.              this is not so.  It is, and (now, finally) does.

  50.           WHAT'S NEW IN GRABBER(tm) VERSION 3.93

  53.           *  GRABBER.EXE  --  A new command-line option switch, /L, has been
  54.                               added.  VGA users who get garbled screen captures
  55.              from certain types of graphics applications, notably animated
  56.              games such as "Commander Keen," "Crystal Caves" and others, should
  57.              experiment with the /L+ switch when installing GRABBER in memory.
  58.              This enables GRABBER to make a more intelligent guess as to the
  59.              video memory scheme being employed by the foreground program.
  60.              It will work on many VGAs, but not all.  If /L+ does not solve the
  61.              problem, or creates a new one by causing super-VGA captures to
  62.              become scrambled too, it should be disabled by entering the
  63.              command:  GRABBER /L-.  [NOTE:  /L+ and /L- were changed to
  64.              VGAREGS and NOVGAREGS, respectively, in Version 3.94.]

  67.           *  GRABBER.EXE  --  New techniques have been employed which should
  68.                               result in more reliable screen captures for users
  69.              of Microsoft's Flight Simulator, Version 4.X, and any other
  70.              animated graphics applications which work similarly.  It appears
  71.              that Flight Simulator attempts to continue manipulating the
  72.              EGA/VGA hardware registers in the background after GRABBER has
  73.              been popped-up by the user, causing a variety of undesirable
  74.              results.  V3.93 corrects this by shutting off Flight Simulator's
  75.              background activities entirely for the duration of the screen
  76.              capture operation.
