  11.      AltP Macro for WordPerfect version 5.1 has been created to use the
  12.      printing capabilities of WordPerfect to print high quality graphic
  13.      images.  With a 24 pin printer  (such as a  Panasonic  KX-P1124),
  14.      near laser quality can be achieved.  The printing process will take
  15.      longer, but this macro will produce superb output for those special
  16.      occasions.  A plot file created from AutoCad is included for you to
  17.      see the "presentation quality" graphics achievable.

  36.      A drawing or cad program which will save the drawing as an HP plot
  37.      file is required.  AutoCad users can save the drawing to a plot
  38.      file, rather than actually sending the output directly to a plotter.
  39.      Limit the output size to one 8-1/2 x 11 page (or an "A" size drawing).
  40.      If the drawing size is larger than one page, the output to the plot
  41.      file will be scaled to the 8-1/2 x 11 size.  Attempting to print a
  42.      plot file larger than one page in WordPerfect causes WordPerfect to
  43.      "lose its marbles" and probably crash.

  45.      A plot file uses "vector" graphics rather than "bit-map".  Vector
  46.      graphics allow high resolution output, only governed by your print
  47.      driver and printer.  Many 24 pin dot matrix printers are capable of
  48.      360 dpi resolution, but few programs have print drivers to accommodate
  49.      this.  This macro allows high resolution (vector) graphics to be
  50.      printed by using WordPerfect's print drivers.

  52.      There is of course a penalty to pay for this high resolution - TIME.
  53.      You probably won't want to print every graphic image using this macro.
  54.      The example (EXAMPLE.PLT) takes about 45 minutes to print on a
  55.      KX-P1124.  The purpose of having this macro is to have the capability
  56.      of producing high quality "presentation" graphics.

  58.      WordPerfect will require about 3 meg of free disk space to store its
  59.      temporary files as it prints.  If you don't have this space available,
  60.      WordPerfect will cancel the printing operation and list an "Out of
  61.      Disk Free Space" error message in the print command window.

  78.      COPY all of the files supplied to your WordPerfect directory.  The
  79.      files being supplied are: ALTP.WPM, ALTP.TXT and EXAMPLE.PLT.

  87.      1.   Start WordPerfect
  88.  
  89.      2.   Hold the Alt key down and type P
  90.  
  91.      3.   You will notice the various WordPerfect screens flash in front of
  92.           you as the macro formats the page.

  94.      4.   The macro will ask for the plot file name (the default is: 
  95.           E:\PLT.PLT).  Use the Backspace to delete the default and type in
  96.           the drive and directory which has the plot file
  97.           Such as: C:\WP51\EXAMPLE.PLT  and press the Enter key.

  99.      5.   If everything is going right up to this point, a notice will be
  100.           displayed: Please wait -- loading plotter file...
  101.           
  102.      6.   The macro will stop and request the page width to be entered.
  103.           The default is 8, you can change this.
  104.      
  105.      7.   Next, the macro will stop and request the height of the drawing to
  106.           be entered.  The default is 10.5, you can also change this.

  108.      8.   The macro will then proceed to the print command window and be
  109.           finished.

  111.           * Check the graphics options in the lower menu options.  If
  112.             graphics are not set to "High", change it to High.
  113.  
  114.           * You may now select item number 6 to preview the page or item
  115.             number 2 to print the page.
  116.  
  117.      NOTE:  WordPerfect will first create its temporary files to your hard
  118.             disk.  This might take 5 to 15 minutes, depending upon the size
  119.             of the plot file.  You should be able to note the hard disk
  120.             access light flashing on and off as this occurs.  If for some
  121.             reason everything seems to have stopped, you can go to the print
  122.             command, control window to check on the status of the printing.
  123.             If an error occurred, it will be listed in the print command
  124.             window.  You might want to select the print command, control
  125.             printer option right after selecting the print page command,
  126.             just to monitor what is happening.
