DDEVICES
Enter the name of a physical device driver loaded on this
CD Server to be shared onto the network by CD Share.
For example you may have a line in your config.sys similar
to the following :
DEVICE = HITACHIA.SYS /D:CDROMS1 /N:3
Name of device driver
Number of Drives
attached to
controller.
DEVICE = HITACHIA.SYS /D:CDROMS2 /N:2
Name of another driver
The total for this server would be two device drivers with
a total of 3+2 = 5 drives. Only those drives controlled by
device drivers listed in the shared devices table will be
be made available to the network.
Press Enter
taSERVER
This is a table of device drivers on the server that are to
be shared onto the network. These device drivers are usually
loaded in the config.sys file on the server, each device
driver may be controlling a number of CDROM drives.
Press Enter with an entry highlighted to alter it, Del to
remove it from the table, or Ins to add an extra entry.
Press Esc to return from the table to the previous menu.
Press Esc
WORKSTN
This is a table of default CDROM drives for the CD Workstation's
logical drives to be attached to.
Note that if more entries than MAXIMUM REDIRECTED DRIVES are
specified then only MAXIMUM REDIRECTED DRIVES will be attached.
Logical drive connections may be altered in batch files or from
the command line at later stages using CDManager.
Press Esc to quit or ENTER for more help
DRIVES
On this form you list the details of ONE of your default redirected
CDROM drives.
SERVER NAME
:Name of CD Server with required CDROM.
DEVICE NAME (On SERVER NAME) :Name of DEVICE DRIVER to attach to on
CD Server
DRIVE NUMBER (On DEVICE NAME) :Drive number (0,1,2,etc) on DEVICE NAME
to attach to.
For example if CDSERVER, CDROMS1, and 0 were entered then this logical
drive would attach to drive 0 on the device driver CDROMS1 on CD-Server
named CDSERVER.

MAIN HELP SCREEN
The CD-SHARE installation program allows you to set up a
computer as a CD Server(either dedicated or non-dedicated),
or as a CD Workstation only. A non-dedicated server MUST
also be set up as a CD workstation to access any local
CDROM device drivers that are shared onto the network via
the CD Share server.
The installation program copies all of the CDSHARE to the
specified installation directory, then creates a startup
batch file which will setup CD-Share on the PC according to
the server and workstation parameters entered. If the PC
is to be a CD Share workstation then a "device=CDWORK.SYS"
line is also appended to the CONFIG.SYS file. The default
name of the batch file is "STARTCD.BAT", this batch file
should be called after installation to start CD Share on
the PC.
If a CD Server is not dedicated and drives are specified in
the workstation drive list then the batch file will set up
the node as a non-dedicated CD Server/Workstation.

This screen allows you to set parameters for a CD Server.
SERVER NAME
: Name of server used by workstations to attach
to server CDROM devices. This name must be unique
for each CD Server and Workstation.
MAXIMUM USERS
: Maximum simultaneous users logged into server
MAXIMUM TASKS
: Maximum simultaneous network requests serviced
BUFFER SIZE
: Size of network buffer (in 2K Sectors) per task.
DEDICATE SERVER
: YES runs the server in dedicated mode for maximum
performance Note: CACHE always used when dedicated
RUN CACHE
: YES indicates that you wish to use CD-CACHE
CACHE TYPE
: TYPE of memory to use for CACHE. DO NOT use EXT if
: HIMEM.SYS or an expanded memory manager is loaded.
CACHE SIZE
: Amount of memory in K bytes to use for cache.
CACHE BLOCK SIZE
: Size of cache management buffers in sectors. This
should always be a multiple of BUFFER SIZE for
maximum performance.
SHARED DEVICES
: Table of names of local CDROM device drivers ON
THE SERVER to be shared onto the network.

:Unique Netbios session name for this
workstation session.
WORKSTATION DEVICE NAME
:The networked CDROM's will appear as

this name. e.g. MSCD
, MSCD001
MAXIMUM REDIRECTED DRIVES :This is the maximum number of network
CDROM drives that may SIMULTANEOUSLY
be connected to the workstation at
any one time. Note that CDManager may
used to alter drive connections to
CD Servers, so one drive is usually
sufficient. Also MSCDEX uses approx
4K of extra memory for each drive.
INSTALL MSCDEX
:If YES then a line will be entered in
the startcd.bat file to run MSCDEX.
STARTING DRIVE LETTER
:If INSTALL MSCDEX is YES this tells
MSCDEX what it's starting drive letter
is to be.
