  1.     MyFamily 2.1 is a full featured software package designed for the
  2. maintenance of genealogical records and family histories.  The program
  3. is menu driven and very easy to learn and to use.  MyFamily 2.1 contains
  4. features normally found only in expensive commercial packages.  MyFamily
  5. produces ancestor and descendant charts, individual and family sheets,
  6. event sheets, missing information sheets, various lists, blank forms, and
  7. a statistical report.  A Query Builder enables the user to easily perform
  8. complex data queries.  Reports may be viewed on screen, printed, or saved
  9. to disk.  Additional features include macro keys, free form comment text,
  10. calendar utility, copying of selected records, and an easy data backup
  11. routine.  You may also copy, delete, rename, or view files without leaving
  12. MyFamily. There are no limits placed on the number of children, previous
  13. marriages, or generations entered.

  15. In addition to this file you should have a file named INSTALL.EXE which
  16. contains the program, manual, and sample data in compressed format.

  18. To install MyFamily, at the DOS prompt, follow these steps:

  20.   1. Make a directory               MD \MY2
  21.   2. Change to that directory       CD \MY2              
  22.   3. Install the program            A:INSTALL (or just INSTALL if
  23.                                                installing from a hard disk)          
  24.   4. Print manual (if desired)      COPY MYMANUAL.DOC PRN
  25.   5. Run the program                MY
  26.  
  27. If installation is successful you will see the following files:

  29.   MY.EXE            * MyFamily 2.1 program
  30.   MYMANUAL.DOC      * MyFamily manual
  31.   SAMPLE.DBF        * Sample data file
  32.   SAMPLE.DBT
  33.   SAMPLE.DBK
  34.   SAMPLE.DBX
  35.   SAMPLE.DBE

  37. You may view the manual file from within MyFamily by using the File Manager
  38. option.  Select the file MYMANUAL.DOC and press F8 for view.
