Documents for STAR TREK Trivia v2.1
Created by:
Robert A. Seace
All music written or converted to BASIC by:
Cheyenne T. Greatorex
This is another freely distributable SeaceWare product, which you will read
more about upon running the program.
This is a compiled version of my program, so BASIC is no longer needed to
run it (hurray!! :-). It is compiled with QuickBASIC v4.5.
The program should run fine with all IBM compatibles, with the possible
exception of the sounds and music. So, I have added a no-sound option, which
plays exactly the same, but without any music or sound. Try it with sound the
first time to see if it works, because I am really pretty proud of the music
(even though I didn't write it). Also, in version 2.1, I have added sound
toggles (F3 or Ctrl-S), so that you can change from sound to no sound or vice
versa.
In version 2.1, I have also added the ability to change background and
foreground colors. Pressing F1 or Ctrl-B changes the background color one notch
and pressing F2 or Ctrl-F changes the foreground color one notch. However, these
color changes will not look correct until the screen is cleared (next question).
Also, there are some combonations of foreground and background colors which
will make the writing 'invisible', so you're on your own when you start playing
with the colors.
The best improvement in v2.0 (in my opinion) is the increased speed. The
old version used to take a very long time to find a random question not
already used after you had played for a while. However, this version has
reduced that delay considerably. I don't know why I didn't think of this
new way to begin with (it is simpler than the way I did it in the original),
but I must not have been thinking straight the day I wrote that portion of the
code. :-) Of course, v2.1 also has this increased speed.
If you have any questions or comments about the program (or would like to
send me money!), I can be reached at the following address:

Plans for the future:
Some day soon, I hope to add more questions to the data files. But,
I have no idea when I will do this.
