ADVANCED.DOC -- Exotic stuff
============================
Objects brought into the scenery file by LIBRARY or IMPORT are
disguised as GATES (object type 8) unless otherwise specified.
You may achieve special display effects by specifying a different
type using the TYPE command.
For example you may bring in the skidmarks as object type runway
so that your runway lights will show through the skidmarks. Use
the same principle to bring in a ship to slip under a runway in
order to make a carrier.

The tutorial example given for IMPORT and EXPORT was a bit
frivolous; here are some uses some what less so, but not for the
faint-of-heart:
Use EXPORT to steal elements from a neighboring scenery area that
should be visible (or active) when on the edge of the current
scenery area (like a promenent mountain or a navaid). Use IMPORT
to bring them into the current sc1 file and you will be able to
see or receive those elements while still within the boundaries of
the current scenery.
This offers the potential for squeezing down some large areas that
might cause you to run out of file space into a few smaller areas
containing carefully chosen duplicates to assure visual and naviga-
tional continuity yet be able to contain many more elements and en-
hancements than the one big one.
The other application is for stealing ASD elements that must be laid
down over SEE enhancements (like buildings as superstructures of SEE
library ship hulls) and to put them back into the original SC1 file
(in order to maintain a single source SC1 and DAT file approach).
