  12.          This version of Asc2Com sees both a new interface (again) and 
  13.          an  additional  lister  type that expands the range  of  text 
  14.          files that can be processed.  Using LZW compression,  the new 
  15.          Comprssed Lister can handle text files up to 120  K  (perhaps 
  16.          larger if the compression is more effective)  and now  allows 
  17.          the  Primary User much more freedom in configuring the lister 
  18.          driver itself.

  20.          ⌠New Lister Type⌠

  22.          All  hot keys (save help)  can be disabled--if you don't want 
  23.          the  end user to be able to Write to File or Print the  Text, 
  24.          YOU  disable  the  command with but a  minor  change  in  the
  25.          configuration.

  27.          If  the security of your text is important to you,   you  can 
  28.          ensure  that  it will take a truly major effort to  obtain  a 
  29.          complete  copy  of the text--because of the  compression,   a 
  30.          simple scan of the body of the program will  reveal--apparent 
  31.          garbage.

  33.          Other new features are 10 end user definable book marks (want 
  34.          to find a particular section for later study--set a bookmark.  
  35.          Jump  back  to it at any time),  automatic resume  (exit  the 
  36.          program  halfway through?   Next time you start  up,   you're 
  37.          right  back at the same spot!),  mark block to print (have  a 
  38.          registration form?  Put it in your docs and let the user mark 
  39.          and  print it),  end user configurable pagination,  and a DOS 
  40.          Shell.

  42.          ⌠Help Screens:⌠ The help screen available under the Compressed, 
  43.          Full,  and Page Listers are all configurable from within  the 
  44.          main Asc2Com program.   Edit your text files, placing marking 
  45.          characters  where  you  want them either using  the  provided 
  46.          editor or your own favorite one.   Simply run the editor from
  47.          the Transfers section of the Asc2Com.   You need never  leave 
  48.          the  program.    All filter operations  are  still  available 
  49.          should you need to strip Low ASCII values,  replace tabs,  or 
  50.          shift the left margin either to the left or the right.

  52.          ⌠Price Change:⌠

  54.          The  down side--well,  sad to say I'm forced to increase  the 
  55.          Registration fee for Asc2Com.   Telephone support has started 
  56.          to  become a major expense and to help defray the costs,  the 
  57.          new  Registration fee for the 2.00  Version is ⌡$35.00⌡  for  a 
  58.          commercial registration except as noted below, and ⌡$25.00⌡ for 
  59.          a private one.  ΓWith the advent of the new lister and severalΓ 
  60.          Γoffers from developers, I've elected to require a royalty feeΓ 
  61.          Γfor  those  commercial  products that use  Asc2Com  generatedΓ 
  62.          Γfiles AS THEIR PRIMARY MEDIUM.Γ   To explain:  ΓTHIS APPLIES TO 
  63.          THE  PUBLICATION  OF ELECTRONIC BOOKS AND  MAGAZINESΓ,   where 
  64.          almost  if  not all of the product is based upon  an  Asc2Com 
  65.          generated program.   Royalty fees will begin at ⌡5.0%⌡ per disk 
  66.          of  the  disk  fee,  rounded up to the  nearest  $0.05.   All 
  67.          registrations requiring royalties will need to be  negotiated 
  68.          on  a  case by case basis,  so contact MorganSoft  either  by
  69.          phone or by letter with your proposal.

  71.          Please note that I do not consider disk vendors to come under
  72.          the  definition  of Electronic Books  or  Magazines:     Disk
  73.          Vendors do NOT have to pay a royalty fee.

  76.          Commercial  (of  the  non-royalty  fee  type)   and   Private
  77.          registrations Γat the old feeΓ--so get in now and save a bit of
