  24. NAMING CONVENTIONS:
  25. -------------------   Archive files for 4FILES should be named 4FILESxx.ZIP or
  26. 4FILExxx.ZIP, as appropriate for the number of digits in the version number.
  27. The exception is CompuServe for which names will be 4F-xx.ZIP or 4F-xxx.ZIP.
  28. Other compression methods may of course be used.  Files within the package must
  29. not be renamed.  The program is accompanied by a separate 4FILES.INF or
  30. 4FILES.ZIP info file.

  40. well.  It could be listed as a file-management utility, a 4DOS support utility
  41. or a shell (I prefer one of the first two).  Inclusion of 4FILES in more than
  42. one of the above classifications or directories would be very much appreciated,
  43. and the file is small enough to make more than one listing credible.

  94. -----------------  4FILES is a multi-purpose file management tool which
  95. smoothly integrates 4DOS & NDOS "file notes" and up to seven of your favorite
  96. utilities into the work at hand.  File management operations may be done on
  97. single files or marked groups of files.  File notes provide ready information
  98. to aid in the use or management of files.  4FILES displays them along with the
  99. file name and full file statistics in a sortable directory listing.  Special
  100. attention has been given to providing the most efficient rapid-fire, point-and-
  101. shoot browsing of files possible, as an aid to composing notes about one or a
  102. succession of files.  The built-in note editor is well adapted to its task.

  104.     Special attention has also been given to efficient navigation of drives and
  105. directories, and the method developed may well be the best you have tried.
  106. Besides innovative features to accomplish this, change-directory utilities such
  107. as LCD and ACD are used to their best advantage if available on your system.

  109.     4FILES features and the utility ports may be configured on-the-fly.
  110. Specialized ports are provided for a file browser, archive file viewer,
  111. two other archive utilities, and a text editor.  The other two ports are
  112. suitable for a word processor or any utility or application.  It addition to
  113. these utilities, and program in the directory listing or any data file with an
  114. "executable extension" may be executed directly.  A DOS command line is also
  115. available.

  117.     My attempt has been to make 4FILES a well-tuned, powerful and perky
  118. utility -- I hope you will give it a try.  It may be fully evaluated (including
  119. file notes) without 4DOS or NDOS.  Shareware, $20.  ASP author.
