  21. KEYBOARD Problems

  24.   If you encounter problems when you hit a key after running PE, you probably
  25.   have a BIOS without "extended" keyboard services.
  26.  
  27.   You should start PE with the -kx option using "PE -kx"; then save the
  28.   configuration file (Esc O S S) in order to update the PE defaults. This
  29.   will prevent you going on using the -kx option later.

  33.   Si vous rencontrez des problèmes quand vous tapez une touche après avoir
  34.   lancé PE, c'est probablement à cause de votre BIOS qui ne supporte pas
  35.   les fonctions étendues.

  48.   There is no "PE.DOC" file, but you may find all PE instructions by
  49.   consulting the HISTORY.DOC file, the PE help (Alt-H) and the PETCERR.C
  50.   file.

  56.   The goal of PE is to give you a powerful, easy to use, speedy text editor
  57.   which can fit ALL of your needs, without distinction for the language
  58.   you use.

  60.   PE has not many bugs, but !!!?  I repeat this message : Please contact me
  61.   to submit all of your remarks (especially when you find bugs !).

  63.   I am actually working on the 2.00.00 version which will allow texts of
  64.   any length.

  66.   There are in this ZIP file 2 versions of PE : PE itself and PT which is
  67.   the Tiny version of an old PE for use into RAM-Hungry packages (As DBaseIV
  68.   or FoxPro 1.xx).

  70.   I developped 2 other versions of PE :

  72.    - PET which is a "terminal" version of PE which only uses ANSI compatible
  73.      sequences and (Slow!) BIOS calls to access the screen and the keyboard.

  75.    - PEU which is a "SCO UNIX tm" version of PE (EXACTLY the same features)
  76.      which is not fully operationnal because of the lack of demand (!).

  94. PE.EXE        Standard PE editor.

  96. PE.CFG        Standard PE configuration file.

  100. PE.KEY        Standard keyboard template of default macros used in PE.

  102. PE.SCR        Screen image and Dos command file executed by the function
  103.               "Boss arrives".
  104.  
  105. PECFG.EXE     This program configures the keys on non-standard keyboard
  106.               and/or keyboard drivers for use with PE. It also allows you
  107.               to define the Bios Type of your machine.
  108.               Simply enter PECFG PE or PECFG PT to update the PE.CFG
  109.               or PT.CFG Configuration files. The program displays all
  110.               special keys and allow user to modify them. When the new
  111.               configuration file is saved, the old file is renamed with
  112.               the ".OLD" extension.
  113.               When finished, PECFG checks the keyboard codes for
  114.               redundancies and eventually creates an error file
  115.               PECFG.TXT. When redundancies occurs, use the PECFG program
  116.               to "Nullify" (suppress) all but one of the redundant keys.
  117.               PECFG is self explained, run the program to get an help
  118.               about the available options.
  119.               In order to convert all the keyboard configuration changes to
  120.               the macros, you must perform the "Import" option of the PE
  121.               "Play and Manage Macros" command (MENU E M P).

  123.               The good way to use PECFG is :
  124.  
  125.                 1)  Export your current macros (MENU M A E).
  126.                 2)  Exit PE and run PECFG PE.
  127.                 3)  Re-enter PE and Import the macro previously
  128.                     exported (MENU M A I).

  130. HISTORY1.DOC
  131. HISTORY2.DOC  Contains explanations about each PE modification. Some of them
  132.               are better explained in these files than in the PE help file.
  133.               HISTORY?.DOC reflects allways the latest changes in PE.

  135. PE.MAC        Source of standard macros defining the default PE interface.
  136.  
  137. PEGREP.BAT    Performs a multiple search in text files, an then launch PE
  138.               in error browse mode in order to view and/or edit all the
  139.               occurences found. This batch file needs the Borland's GREP
  140.               program. You may also use the SEARCH.EXE program made by the
  141.               same author (me !). SEARCH is directly PE compatible and is
  142.               available apart.

  144. PEPURGE.BAT   Clean all PE backup files except the last version.

  146. PETCERR.C
  147. PETCERR.EXE   Source and executable files used in conjunction with the PE
  148.               Error Mode. This program converts Turbo C 1.5, 2.0 and
  149.               Turbo C++ 1.0 error messages into a PE compatible Error file.

  153. PEMSCERR.EXE  Source and executable files used in conjunction with the PE
  154.               Error Mode. This program converts Microsoft C 5.0 and 5.1
  155.               error messages into a PE compatible Error file.

  159. PEGREPER.EXE  Source and executable files used in conjunction with the PE
  160.               Error Mode. This program converts Borland's GREP 3.0 strings
  161.               into a PE compatible Error file. GREP must be used with "-on"
  162.               options.

  166. LPRINT.EXE    Text files printing program used by the PE print functions.
  167.               This program may be used stand alone. The ".HP" files are
  168.               escape codes sequences for use with an HP LaserJet.
