Soft World's Fair (SWF) began as Diotte & Associates in 1987 in
Milwaukee, WI.
Incorporated in 1990, SWF is devoted to the creation of quality Business
and Education Software. Most programs created are for database
applications - data tracking, accounting, records management, data
analysis. We have created many stand-alone and NETWORK applications.
SWF has a wide array of clients in manufacturing and service industries.
SWF's client base extends from Chicago to Minneapolis with the majority
in Southeastern Wisconsin. Additional clients are in Ohio, Florida,
Louisiana and California and are reached via modem.
Languages used:
FoxPro
Clipper
Arago/Quicksilver
Force
C++
Assembler
dBASE
We believe that program simplicity and user-friendliness best serves
the client. We strive to create programs that keep the learning curve
short, ensure data integrity and proper data entry, and are intuitive to
use without unnecessary bells and whistles.
Soft World's Fair principal programmer is Peter Diotte. Peter has
degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Math and a Masters in Business
Administration. Besides consulting and programming, he is a
state certified instructor and has taught microcomputer courses part-time
for 5 years at various colleges.
We sincerely hope that the PC PRIMER tutorial has been useful to you.

PRIMTEXT.doc Information about PC PRIMER Text+Tutorial Disk Offer
ORDERFRM.doc Order Form for PC PRIMER Text + Tutorial Disk
VENDOR.doc Information for Shareware Distributors
We encourage bundling with Computers, Shareware "packets" (multi-disk sets),
CD ROM disks that contain many shareware programs, etc. Go ahead and bundle!
This allowance is a change from earlier (MR DOS) versions of this tutorial.
SWF can create a CUSTOM version of this tutorial for distribution to your
customers as part of your product or as a premium. We can build a
custom opening screen with your corporate information. We can add an
electronic rolodex to the main menu containing important facts and numbers
about your business. This tutorial will have learning value to the
customer and business value to you because your name is seen every time
it is used. Further, the customer can quickly reference facts and
numbers important to your operation, at their leisure.
A custom version would be stripped of the SWF info and book offer and
would be copyrighted. It would no longer be shareware.
Call to discuss a reasonably priced customized premium for your customers.
*** Information concerning former MR DOS tutorial - why the name change?
As stated on the entry screen, earlier versions of this tutorial are
called MR DOS (the last was version 2.31). We trademarked this name
during the Spring of 1990. About 3 months later we received a letter
from law offices representing Microsoft Corporation stating that we shall
"cease and desist" from using the MR DOS mark as it infringes on their
MS-DOS mark.
After a year of phone discussions and letter writing, we have acceded
to their demand and now call the shareware tutorial, PC PRIMER version
3.1s.
I am permitted to retain my MR DOS auto license plates.
There is truly only 1 MR DOS and he answers to the name Bill.
*** Soft World's Fair - where did this name come from?
The name Soft World's Fair has its roots in the 1964 New York World's
Fair. Peter was 7 when he attended that event in Flushing New York.
Peter believes the '64 World's Fair represented grand hope for future
technological wizardry. We were going to the moon, IBM was hawking
mainframes, the James Bond 007 Goldfinger Aston Martin car was on
display and Michelangelo's Pieta - a mother and child reunion - for the
world to see, brought the observer back to the need for balance. The
magical wonderment and infinite optimism was embodied in the collective
wares displayed. It's a warm feeling. We believe our software captures
the same optimism and delivers the promise.
Our single quest is customer satisfaction thru quality software.
