  2. Select a FILE, Option F is selected before choosing any other CARDFILE MAIN
  3. MENU option (except the HELPFUL INFORMATION option).  The Select  a FILE
  4. option is used to select a new file or change from one existing file to
  5. another.
  6.  
  7. To use the FILE Selection option:
  8.  
  9. 1.  Press <F> from the CARDFILE MAIN MENU.  The screen will clear and the SELECT
  10.     A FILE screen will be displayed.
  11.  
  12. 2.  In the corresponding fields, type drive, directory and file name.  DRIVE and
  13.     FILE NAME are mandatory.  DIRECTORY is optional.  If DIRECTORY is left blank
  14.     the default or current data directory will be used.  You do not have to
  15.     enter file extension because CARDFILE will assign it automatically.

  17.     CARDFILE uses the following function keys to aid data entry:

  19.     <F2> - Refresh current screen entry.
  20.     <F3> - Quit and return to Main Menu.  Do not change file currently selected.
  21.     <F4> - Clear current screen entry.  Reset selected file to null value.
  22.     <F8> - Continue.  Accept and use file information entered on screen.

  24. 3.  Press the appropriate function key to continue.

  26.     If <F8> is pressed and the data file and corresponding index file exist, the
  27.     screen will clear and the CARDFILE MAIN MENU will be displayed.
  28.  
  29.     If the data file exists, but the index file is not found on the same drive,
  30.     the index file will be recreated.  Once the index file is created, press
  31.     any key to return to the CARDFILE MAIN MENU.

  33.     If the data file does not exist, CARDFILE will ask if it should be created.
  34.     Press <Y> to create this file or <N> to cancel the request.  Press any key
  35.     to return to the CARDFILE MAIN MENU.

  37.     NOTE:  If <Y> is pressed to create a new file, the only function that is
  38.            permitted is ADD data.  Once records have been added, any other
  39.            CARDFILE functions may be selected.
