  4.                          COURIER HST DUAL STANDARD

  6.           The Courier Hst Dual Standard is probably the most          
  7.           versatile, widely compatible high speed modem in the        
  8.           world. It can communicate at 14,400 bps using V.32bis,       
  9.           and 16,800 using HST. With V.42bis data compression,
  10.           through put can reach 38,400 bps.                                   
  11.                                                                       
  12.           That's 50% faster than any 9600 bps modem on the market.    
  13.           And 15 times faster than a 2400 bps modem without MNP.      
  14.           And only Couriers have ASL --Adaptive Speed Leveling.       
  15.           All modems slow down for line noise. Couriers can speed     
  16.           up again when conditions improve. The others leave you      
  17.           in "low", which can turn a $1 call into a $10 call.

  19.           Only the Courier Dual Standard gives you communication      
  20.           with the vast established base of HST and V.32 modems, as   
  21.           well as the V.32bis modems that are just entering the       
  22.           market.  It can handle every popular modulation technique   
  23.           in the world from 300 to 14,400 bps, synchronous and        
  24.           asynchronous.  It works over dial-up lines. And of course,  
  25.           it's compatible with MNP Levels 2-5, V.42, and V.42bis.

  27.           In V.32 bis mode: Under V.32bis, you get true, full         
  28.           duplex, high speed transmission -- synchronous or asynch-   
  29.           ronous.  You can communicate at 14,400 bps in both direc-   
  30.           tions simultaneously. And our Intel 80188 processers can    
  31.           really deliver that speed, even if you're using V.42bis     
  32.           data compression in both directions. With slower Z80s and   
  33.           8021s, you dont get full speed.  V.32bis mode gives you     
  34.           national and international compatibility with a variety of  
  35.           high speed modems, plus the synchronous communication many  
  36.           mainframe require.

  38.           In HST mode: HST's unique asymmetrical duplex design has a  
  39.           16,800 bps data channel. The big data files automatically   
  40.           get the high speed channel. You have the asynchronous       
  41.           transmission you need for minis, PCs, and terminals.  And   
  42.           at high speeds, you're compatible with the vast installed   
  43.           base of HST modems.
