- For anyone interested there is an excellent timing program which
- provides efficiency ratings for external protocols with TELIX. It
- is called PTIMER.COM (Version 1.03) and is available with source
- code from the author of JMODEM - His BBS number is 508-922-3166.
- I use it along with the last release of the MASM variety of JModem
- which is version 1.21 - The current C version of JModem is 3.xx
- Here is a copy of the report screen generated by PTIMER for those
- who want to determine efficiency with various external protocols.

- One other note, for reporting accuracy before you start your
- transfer be sure the host (BBS) is displaying it's download prompt
- "before" you initiate your up or down load. The actual prompt
- appears "after" you are told to start your download. Doing this
- assures that when PTIMER executes and passes control to your
- external protocol that you will get a more accurate report. All
- you have to do is pause for a moment after you start the transfer on
- the host system. This gives the host time to engage it own external
- protocol if it is using one. Sometimes that will take as much as
- five (5) plus seconds if your downloading from one of the external
- protocol doors, like ProDoor or ZDoor - The actual delay depends on
- your Sysops door configuration and the type of host CPU in use.
