DUPEFILE
++++++++
version 1.01 September 22, 1991
a public domain Wildcat! SysOps' utility by Michael Conley.
(designed for use with Wildcat! 3.x data files)
[ requires BRUN40.EXE in the path ]
WHAT IT DOES:
=============
DUPEFILE will scan through your ALLFILES.DAT and report on all filenames
which partially match. Two modes are possible: You may specify the number
of characters which must match, in the range of 2 - 8, or you may select
SmartMode, which will check for the first non-alphabetic character (such as
a version number) in a filename and look for similar files.
DUPEFILE requires BRUN40.EXE, and must run IN THE SAME DIRECTORY where your
MAKEWILD.DAT exists. It is NOT meant to be run unattended ... it requires
user input to tell it how many characters to match on.
There's not much to the program, but it may help you to spot cases where
duplicate files exist with different extensions, or multiple versions of
a file exist and the old ones should be removed.
PROBLEMS, SUGGESTIONS:
======================
DUPEFILE is public domain. I don't seek or accept any donations for this or
any of my other Wildcat! utility programs, including TODAYBBS, FLOP, MSTAT,
USTAT, and others.
I welcome suggestions, and will try to help (no guarantees) if there are
problems.
You may contact me at The Charlatan's Cabin BBS (213) 654-7337. Mention
your Wildcat! registration number in the comment and you'll be upgraded to
membership without the usually required registration by mail.
You may also leave a message via CompuServe (70250,220).
Please, NO VOICE CALLS. This isn't meant to be unfriendly, but with
the price of public domain software these days ... I just can't afford
to be "on call." I WILL respond to your questions via my BBS or CompuServe,
or via the Mustang Software registered SysOp BBS.
