Hints,Tips and Wrinkles on using FXBULL the Flexible Bulletin Generator.
1) After each caller leaves the system generate the last callers bulletin
and copy it into welcome.asc and welcome.ans. This gives users logging on
an immediate impression of just what a busy system you run!
2) If generating the last caller bulletin above only generate that bulletin
(ie. comment out all those other nice bulletins. They take TIME to produce).
3) Use different configuration files and copy them onto FXBULL.CFG. This
way you can control what bulletins are created when (I make most of mine
in the midnight event). You can also use this for changing the colours on
a daily basis. or WHY.
4) Generate a system status report for yourself. My new users get a security
level of 18 when they complete the questionairre. I generate Bulletin 2 (with
SECLEVEL 18) and copy it into SEC1000.* (my ra security level is 1000). This
way I can see who I should be thinking about upgrading every time I log on.
If you use the BULLTERM with the ^A you could copy many bulletins together
to give a full report available each time you log on. eg copy bull2.ans +
bull15.ans + bull13.ans sec1000.ans
5) Surprise bulletins! Make a bulletin of TOP TROFFERS and have it on
the files menu. If the users security level has been adjusted to a low
level you can make the "Download" key display the troffers bulletin instead.
Just how unsubtle do you want to be ?
eg.
SEC Type Key Data
21 32 D (Download file)
20 45 D BULL5 (Display asc/ans file with pause)
There's a hundred and one ways to use this bulletin generator. If you think
of some pretty neat ones contact me and i'll include them in this document.
And now for another beer...
That's an idea... A bulletin of top beer drinkers... Hmmmmm.
