Welcome to BiFace!!
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Welcome to BiFace version 1.00! BiFace is a BiModem interface to
Remote Access. It coveres almost all the needs of the sysop, but
it's surely not the best interface, BiFace was meant to show you
how easy it is to make very nice doors with RADU! But RADU is
not yet finished, and a lot of sysops want BiFace! Thats why i
have relesed v1.00 at this moment.
BiFace is released earlier becouse my BBS was hacked due to a
bug in a beta version of BiFace. My whole USERS.BBS was
downloaded, and a lot of unhappy users was the relult :-( After
i checked some other interfaces it seemed that some other
interfaces were not safe as well!! I decided to make BiFace VERY
safe and to release it immediately!
BiFace is sertainly not te best interface, but i think it's the
saftest!
NOTE: In the rush this document can be a bit "buggy", english is
not my language..
Features in this version
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ DESQview aware. BiFace will give timeslices back if the user
is doing nothing.
■ Multiline support (only for RA). Finds all configuration files
and detects internode messages. Support for sharing and
locking of files.
■ 100% RA (any version i think) and SBBS v1.10 compatible. (For
SBBS compatibility you need an external utility called S2R,
included in this archive. S2R can be used by SBBS users to
make RA doors compatible with SBBS);
■ AVATAR support for FAST screen updates (only for RA);
■ Internal ANSI and AVATAR emulation;
■ Monitors carrier, timelimit and keyboard inactivity timeouts;
■ Uses fossil for all communications;
■ Sysop friendly RA alike status line and RA alike sysop keys;
■ Uses hotkeys for both user and sysop;
■ Support for USERON v2.2 and up ((c) 1991 Gerhard Hoogterp);
■ BiFace will not allow users to download from areas they would
normally have no access to;
■ BiFace will warn the sysop in CAPITALS in the logfile when the
user only THIES to download a file with a path!!
■ BiFace will recognise private uploads (/) and updates
PVTFILES.LOG in the RA system directory.

BiFace is distributed in a archive, containing the following
files:

BiFace.Ctl -=> Example control file for BiFace.
BiFace.Doc -=> The file you are reading now.
*.ASC -=> ASCII screens.
*.ANS -=> ANSI screens.
*.AVT -=> AVATAR screens.
S2R-100.* -=> Archive containing the SuperBBS to Remote
Access converting utility.
IFP.DOC -=> Information about other In Fase Productions.
You may re-archive the distribution archive to any valid
compression type, but please do NOT add any other file(s) to
this archive!
System requirements
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
BiFace will run on all Remote Access and SBBS (v 1.10 and up!!)
Bulletin Board Systems. BiFace has been thoroughly tested with
various system setups on about 4 different systems, with very
good results. BiFace has been tested with DESQview, and should
work with other multitaskers (like MicroSoft Windows 3.0 and
DoubleDos) as well.

BiFace takes up about 100 k of your precious system memory.

Installation of BiFace
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Installation of BiFace for Remote Access systems is very
simple:
Make a directory somewhere on your harddisk, unpack the
distribution archive in it, and make a type 7 shell entry with
the following parameters:
Action Execute sub-program (type 7)
Optional data C:\RA\BIFACE\BIFACE.EXE*M
Hot Key B
Automatic N
After that, edit the file BiFace.Ctl. This file contains
remarks about configuration, so no further explanation is
needed.
That's all there is to do....
■ Installation of BiFace for SBBS systems:
Because SBBS is incompatible with Remote Access, it is a
little bit difficult to run door(game)s for Remote Access
systems on a SBBS system. This is the place where S2R is
needed. S2R is a smart utility that converts SBBS config and
exitinfo files from SBBS to Remote Access. Installation of
BiFace on a SBBS systems is as easy as on a Remote Access
System! Just place C:\SBBS\S2R.EXE in front of the normal
command line to start the door, and S2R will create the Remote
Access config and exitinfo files, and start the door. So the
complete installation of BiFace for SBBS looks like this:
Action Execute sub-program (type 7)
Optional data C:\SBBS\S2R.EXE C:\SBBS\BIFACE\BIFACE.EXE*E*M
Hot Key T
Automatic N
After that, please edit the file BiFace.Ctl to configure
BiFace. This file contains remarks, so a further explanation
is not needed.
Simple eeuh?!
