FDSCheck 1.00
by
Jay Cadieux of Black Frost Software
===============================================================================
With the release of FrontDoor 2.x, some of the files used by that
program had their names changed. Out of these files, several of them,
notabaly FD.SYS (which has been renamed to SETUP.FD) and FOLDER.SYS
(renamed to FOLDER.FD) are used by external utilities such as TosScan
and GhostWriter. Until new versions of these external utilities are
released, they still require the old (FrontDoor 1.99c) names to operate.
This program will copy SETUP.FD to FD.SYS and FOLDER.FD to FOLDER.SYS
every time changes are made to either your general configuration
(SETUP.FD) or your areas configuration (FOLDER.FD). In doing so, you
can keep the old FrontDoor files required by your external utilities
up-to-date without having to do so manually. FDSCheck also eliminates
the possibility of you forgetting to update these configuration files,
which can cause some nasty little "surprises".
FDSCheck must be in your main FrontDoor directory to run properly (or at
least in the same directory as SETUP.FD, FD.SYS, FOLDER.FD and
FOLDER.SYS). If any of these four files are missing, FDSCheck will halt
and inform you of the problem. I suggest running FDSCheck every time
you import or export mail (or at any other relatively short interval, as
it is extremely quick to run). This will keep the old FrontDoor
configuration files up-to-date for the external utilities that you use
in your mail import or export routines.
This program is guaranteed only to take up 8k or so of disk space. No
other warranties, express or implied, are given. If you choose to run
FDSCheck, you do so at your own risk. Running the program constitutes
acceptance of these terms.
If you decide to keep and use FDSCheck, and if you find it useful, a
token donation of $2 or so would be appreciated. Even if you won't/can't
send it, please send the author a NetMail [I like to know where my
programs end up ;-) ] at 1:163/303.8@fidonet.org. If you have any
questions/bugs/suggestions/comments, please send them to me at the same
address. This program is shareware and is not to be distributed for
profit or used in a commercial environment, period.
