Hiya...
I was in need of a utility that would convert an areas.bbs kind of
file to a Frontdoor setup, and after not finding it on several
bbs' I just wrote one myselve. It creates a Folder.FD file from an
Areas.BBS style of file. Use it as follows:
AREAS2FD <Optional path and name to Areas.BBS file>
If no parameter is given, it will look in the current directory
for a file called Areas.BBS.
Areas2FD will check for the FD environment variabele, and tries to
open Folder.FD for the systempath. If Areas2FD can determine the
systempath, the Folder.FD will be created there, else it will be
created in the CURRENT directory.
Standard disclaimer: I Don't guarentee anything, not that it will
work or that it will format your harddisk. Use it wise and make a
backup of your folder.fd before processing!
Areas2FD is spreaded under a 'thanks a lot' basis. You like it?
Let me know, some place, somewhere... That's all I'm asking. Feel
free to use it in any environment, commercial, noncommercial or
something inbetween.
I do accept flames, but *NOT* in echomail. If you have anything
bad to say about either Areas2FD or just about me, feel free to do
it per private netmail, or logon to my board and yell the shit out
of me! I wouldn't care less.
Note, Areas2FD turns on the following bits: EchoMail, EchoInfo,
MsgBase and Export OK. These are the defaults and you will have to
live with it...
A thank you goes to Joaquim Homrighausen for his absolutely
fantastic Mailer prog.
Areas2FD was programmed using Turbo Pascal 6.0 and the Frontdoor
Developers Kit from Joaquim Homrighausen.
I realize that Areas2FD is in a few ways kind of shit. It can't
handle multiple aka's and doesn't handle origin lines. It was just
made so that I can test every new mailtosser around, they can
usually create an Areas.BBS kind of file and now that's all I need
to read the messages using FM.
Thanks for reading, goodbye!
