Yahtsee
Special Keys:
When asked which dice to roll, if you have not finished all 3 rolls, but want
to score the dice, type 0. This will skip your next roll and put you at the
Choice prompt.
If you want to quit the game before it's over, when you get to the Choice
prompt, type q.
GENERAL:
In Yahtsee you get 3 rolls of the 5 dice to try and get the best
possible score. After the 3rd roll you must place an entry on the score
card. If you cannot match any of the scoring combinations, you may have to
take a zero somewhere on the card. Once a scoring slot has been used on the
card, you cannot use it again, unless it's another Yahtsee. When the score
card is finished being drawn, you will be asked to press any key for roll #1.
All 5 dice will roll and you will be asked, which dice do you want to roll.
If, for instance, you rolled 2 5's a 1, a 3 and a 2, you may want to keep the
pair of 5's and roll the other 3 in hopes of getting more 5's. When entering
the dice numbers which you want to roll, enter in this manner: 123, 321, 231
or any combination of the 5 dice. Do not include spaces, comma's or any other
delimeters.
After your 3rd roll you will be asked for your choice as to which scoring
slot to fill. See scoring for more. If on the first or second roll, you
get a score which you would like to place on the card, enter 0 when asked
which dice you would like to roll, then enter your choice.
SCORING:
Ones - type o to place a score in the ones slot. All dice equal to
1 will be added and the total will be placed in the slot.
Twos - type t to place a score in the twos slot. All dice equal to
2 will be added and the total will be placed in the slot.
Threes - type h to place a score in the threes slot. All dice equal
to 3 will be added and the total will be placed in the slot.
Fours - type f to place a score in the fours slot. All dice equal to
4 will be added and the total will be placed in the slot.
Fives - type v to place a score in the fives slot. All dice equal to
5 will be added and the total will be placed in the slot.
Sixes - type x to place a score in the sixes slot. All dice equal to
6 will be added and the total will be placed in the slot.
3 of a Kind - type 3 to place a score in the 3 of a kind slot. If there
are 3 like dice, the total of all dice will be added.
4 of a Kind - type 4 to place a score in the 4 of a kind slot. If there
are 4 like dice, the total of all dice will be added.
Full House - type u to place a score in the full house slot. If there
are 3 like dice and 2 like dice, the score will be 25.
Small Straight - type s to place a score in the small straight slot. If
there are 4 consecutive dice, the score will be 30.
Large Straight - type l to place a score in the large straight slot. If
there are 5 consecutive dice, the score will be 40.
Yahtsee - type y to place a score in the yahtsee slot. If it is your
first 5 of a kind, the score will be 50. You will receive
an additional 100 points for each additional yahtsee. If
you took a zero in the yahtsee slot, additional yahtsee
scoring will not be counted.
Chance - type c to place a score in the chance slot. The total of all
5 dice will be scored.
On the left section of the card are ones, twos, threes, fours, fives
and sixes. If after your 3rd roll you have 3 5's and hit v (for fives) your
score for the fives slot will be 15. If your total for the left side equals
63 or better, you will receive a bonus of 35 points. (HINT: if you get at
least 3 of each dice on the left side, you will have 63 points and earn the
bonus!).
On the right are 3-of-a-kind, 4-of-a-kind, full house, small straight,
large straight, yahtsee and chance.
For 3-of-a-kind, 3 of the dice must match. If so the total of all 5
dice is put in the scoring slot.
For 4-of-a-kind, if 4 dice match, the total of all 5 dice is placed in the
slot.
For full house, 3 dice must match and 2 dice must match. For example:
11122, 33555, 66222 etc... You will receive 25 points for a full house.
For a small straight, 4 of the dice must be contiguous. For example: 1234,
2345, 3456. You will receive 30 points for a small straight.
For a large straight, all 5 dice must be contiguous. For example 12345,
23456. You will receive 40 points for a large straight.
For a Yahtsee, all 5 dice must match. For example: 55555, 11111, etc...
For a Yahtsee, you will receive 50 points. If you have not filled the Yahtsee
slot with a zero, you can score additional Yahtsee's for a total of 100 points
per Yahtsee.
The Chance scoring slot can be used anytime during the game that you feel
you have no place else to get decent points in.
The color cyan is used for indicating which letter/number will place your
score in a particular scoring slot.
Enjoy the game and good luck!!
