The JNS Edit door game DAT file editor is distributed as a help utility
for all JNS Software Registered Customers. This program will only work on
DAT files of registered JNS Software door games.
▒▒▒ What This Program Does ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒

It will allow the System Operator to edit or delete records in the .DAT files
for the latest games. Below is a listing of the games and version numbers
this program is intended for. These are also the latest versions of each game
to date. Also, this program will work with coming versions unless noted
otherwise in the documentation files for each game.

▒▒▒ Two Ways To Run ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
Running With A JNS_EDIT.DAT file:
---------------------------------
Running JNS Edit using the JNS_EDIT.DAT file is by far the best especially
if you have several or all of JNS Software door games.
Create or edit the enclosed JNS_EDIT.DAT file following the guideline
below: (This is a sample JNS_EDIT.DAT file)
C:\DOORS\01 ;- In-Between
C:\DOORS\02 ;- Two-Card Poker
C:\DOORS\03 ;- The Great White Card Game
C:\DOORS\04 ;- Amazing Memory
C:\DOORS\05 ;- Quote Fall
;- The Puzzle Machine
C:\DOORS\07 ;- Boxed Poker
C:\DOORS\08 ;- Soli-Tree
C:\DOORS\09 ;- Golf Solitaire
C:\DOORS\10 ;- Kings Last
C:\DOORS\11 ;- Trapper
C:\DOORS\12 ;- Double SoliTree
C:\DOORS\13 ;- Five Card Draw Poker
C:\DOORS\14 ;- Yacht
The JNS_EDIT.DAT file must have all 14 lines. Each line is needed merely
to give the path to each games directory. Everything after the ';' will
be ignored and just allows commenting each line. NOTE: The Games MUST BE
listed in the above order.
In the above example all games are being used except for The Puzzle
Machine. But this line still has to be present and begin with an ';'.
Do this for any game that you are not using.
Once you created the JNS_EDIT.DAT file you can place it along with the
JNS_EDIT.EXE file into any directory. But it must be ran from this directory
so it can find the JNS_EDIT.DAT file.
The best way is to create a batch file and place it some where in your
path. below is an example batch file which would work correctly if you
placed the program files in the BBS home directory. We will call it
EDITDOOR.BAT:
@ECHO OFF
CD\BBS
JNS_EDIT.EXE
Thats all there is to it. You can now either run the batch file from
any directory if your BBS directory is in your path or change to your BBS
directory and run it directly by typing JNS_EDIT.
Running Without A JNS_EDIT.DAT file:
------------------------------------
Running JNS Edit without a JNS_EDIT.DAT file requires that you run it
from the game directory itself. You can only edit the game who's directory
your in.
The best way is to place JNS_EDIT.EXE somewhere in your path. Then you
can change to the game directory of the game DAT file you want to edit
and type JNS_EDIT.
▒▒▒ Editing A .DAT File ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
First, BE CAREFUL! You can easily mess things up with this program. Meaning
that you could destroy the games data file or corrupt any or all the data
contained in it.
Second, this utility program was made available for the sole purpose of
making wrongs, right. For instance, if a user gets dropped out of a game
because of line noise or power failure, this gives you the means to edit
that users record so that they can play the game again for the same day.
Third, if you use this program correctly and carefully you should not
have any problems. The program is very straight forward with online help.
Fourth, try it out by copying your game .DAT and .KEY file to another
directory and running in without the JNS_EDIT.DAT file. This will allow
you to get familiar with it and not cause any harm.

▒▒▒ Multitasking & Networking Use ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
If your using this program in a Multitasking or Network enviroment then
you must be careful not to edit a DAT file of a game when it is being played.
Unpredictable results may occur from this. Other than this it should run
fine in these enviroments.
