What is Echomail?
-----------------
Echomail is a system where a message may be entered on one bbs, and
it will be eventually be transferred to all of the other systems in the
echo area. This is much less expensive for the sysop than netmail is. In
an echomail system, the message is entered on one system, then trans-
ferred to a "host" system. The host then calls up all of the other
systems and transferes the message to them. Around midnight that night,
when the phone rates are the lowest, the host system usually calls up
another host which distributes the messages to it's local nodes and in
turn calls another host and so on until the messages has reached all of
the nodes in the area.
