What can the ADDER door for you? Supply your users with a way to
access Dave Wendling's Enquirer Door. With the Enquirer ADDER
your users will be able to add their own headlines to Dave's
great door with ease. This will or should increase involvement in
the door for the user is now a part of it.
Features ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ Clean, crisp user interface that even a cell could operate
■ Swear checker to weed out all those nasty words *
■ It's free
■ Supports most BBSs
■ Bad User List (To weed out those pesky troublemakers)
■ Uh.... Did I say it was free?
* Swear code taken form Scott Baker's door The Jungle. He gets
the credit for that one.
Installing ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────
First of all, copy all of the files that came with the archive to
the directory in which Dave's Enquirer Door is located.
Included with this door is a control file. It is a straight
ASCII text file that tells the ADDER door what kind of BBS you
have, your name, ect.. You MUST edit this file with any standard
text editor before running the door. After you are done editing
just save the file as ADDER.CTL, and you should be all set.
Also included with this door is another ASCII text file called
BADWORDS.TXT. This is where you add the words that you would like
the ADDER door to reject when the user enters a headline. Place
only one word on a line, and do not leave a blank line at the end
of the file. For instance:
Example of BADWORDS.TXT:
JERK
DORK
FARTHEAD
CRAP
^--- save your text file here and do not press enter
again.
*** If you don't care about swears then just delete BADWORDS.TXT
One last ASCII text file that is included with this package is a
file called BADUSERS.TXT. Just enter the users real name in
capitals followed by an enter. Again do not press enter on last
line or program will crash.
*** If you don't have bad users then delete BADUSERS.TXT
Commandline Parameters ──────────────────────────────────────────
These are switches that you use when you load ADDER.
/L - Log on locally (To test out program)
/Nx - Node number, where x is the number. This is required for
BBSs such as RemoteAccess where in it's drop file
DORINFOx.DEF, a node number is required. So node 2 on ra
would be DORINFO2.DEF and the switch would have to be /N2
/P - Path to BBS drop file. This is where your BBS writes it's
door file. This is required unless you want to copy the
door file to the ADDER directory everytime you run it. An
example would be: ADDER.EXE /PC:\RA
Oh ya, while a user is on line Press ALT-H for a list of
stuff you can do while the user is online.
Don't Blame Me ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
If anything should happen to you, your computer or your town/city
while running this door I, Joe Maffuccio, am not responsible for
it. If however something good comes out of the use of this door I
would like a fair cut of it. :)
