PC TIME STANDARD
Version 2.01
Thanks for trying PC TIME STANDARD. This is a shareware
program, and we hope you'll register your copy if you
continue to use the program. Please read the program
documentation file, PCTIME.DOC, for more detailed
information on the operation of PC TIME STANDARD.
PCTIME.DOC may be printed on most printers.
As a special incentive to encourage registration of
shareware programs, users who register this program will
receive a certificate allowing them to purchase a JSCM
Shareware Collection CD-ROM for only $9.95. Please see
the users manual for registration information.
PC TIME STANDARD offers a fast and easy way to set and
adjust your clock to the National Institute of Standards
and Technology (NIST) atomic time standard. Integrated
into one easy to use program, key PC TIME STANDARD
features include automatic compensation of average clock
drift, automatic daylight savings and leap second
adjustment, an event recorder, a complete log file of the
update history with a graphical display, scheduled
updates, NIST synchronized pulse output, timing
measurements at 1 millisecond resolutions, and top level
menu display of key clock statistics. May be run from
your autoexec.bat file for automatic update and
adjustment at power-up. Requires a '286 or better
personal computer and a 1200 baud modem.
INSTALLATION
Copy the contents of this distribution disk to a
subdirectory on your hard drive or onto a floppy disk.
Move to that subdirectory and run the pctime.exe program.
Use the CONFIGURE function from the main menu to select
the serial port to which your modem is connected, and to
change any of the default configuration settings. You can
now use the SET TIME function to set your PC's clock to
the National Institute of Standards and Technology's
Atomic Cesium Standard.
If you wish to automatically run PC TIME STANDARD every
time you turn on your computer, add the following line to
the end of your autoexec.bat file:
c:\pctime\pctime /autoadjust /autoset
PC TIME STANDARD will now automatically adjust and set
your PC's clock every time you power up. The /autoset
schedule (daily, weekly, semimonthly, monthly, variable)
is set by the CONFIGURATION function at the main menu.
