  1. WORLD29 version 2.9H is THE GEOGRAPHY ASSISTANT it is available on CompuServe 
  2. in IBMAPP LIB 7 as WORLDX.EXE.

  4. WORLD29 can be registered on-line by typing GO SWREG and using the 
  5. Registration ID 283. Registration will be acknowledged by the author by mail.

  7. WORLD29 provides user selected maps of any point on the earth as well as the 
  8. ability to track such items as hurricanes and ships around the world. Like a 
  9. globe in your computer, WORLD29 allows you to look at any point on earth 
  10. centered on your screen instead of being limited to just single country maps. 
  11. You tell WORLD29 what you want to see and it creates a map centered on that 
  12. location.

  14. To make things easier WORLD29 knows the location of all state capitals and 
  15. over 200 national capitals, including those created by the breakup of the 
  16. USSR and Yugoslavia. It allows you to indicate a given capital by choosing 
  17. from a list or by typing the name or part of the name of the capital or 
  18. country.

  20. WORLD29 comes with a sample file of CUSTOM.LOCations. Additional .LOC files 
  21. are provided in HOTSPOT reports which provide the locations of many more 
  22. cities and villages in and around HOTSPOTS in the world. (Previously issued 
  23. HOTSPOTS include USSR29, GULF29, and YUGO29) Additionally the .LOC files 
  24. allow you to have your own lists of locations of interest. The new option 14 
  25. allows you to change active .LOC files without exiting the program. When you 
  26. load a new .LOC file it becomes a full part of the program and the locations 
  27. appear in table form in option 7, are find-able with option 4, and show up in 
  28. appropriate maps.

  30. WORLD29 also comes with a sample SUPplemental.DATa file which adds the 
  31. Provinces of Canada to your maps. HOTSPOTS reports also provide 
  32. SUPplemental.DATa files which OVELAY the appropriate maps to emphasize 
  33. certain features. Of course, you can easily create your own overlays for any 
  34. place on earth and they will be integrated into WORLD29 whenever you want.

  36. WORLD29's global tracking ability provides the capability to track things 
  37. anywhere in the world. It comes with sample TRAKSxx files which shows 
  38. hurricane tracks but is also used for locating such things as earthquakes, 
  39. long range flights, international drug busts, and emergencies throughout the 
  40. world.

  42. Use WORLD29 to keep a record of trips you make around the country or around 
  43. the world!

  58.   11 - Approximate distance between Cities
  59.   12 - Plot any one Track

  65. The user can enter a latitude and longitude as either decimal degrees or 
  66. degrees and minutes (30.5 or 30 30N).

  68. Places can be located using the search features of option 4. For example 
  69. entering SAN allows you to choose from a series of names which can run from 
  70. SANTA FE,NM to CABO SAN LUCAS.

  72. Great Circle distance can be calculated between any two points in either the 
  73. provided database or in the user database.

  75. An elementary geography name game is provided.
  76.  
  77. The program now identifies the type of monitor used.
  78. It provides for custom configuration which allows the selection of 
  79. colors and default setups. The provided CREATOR program facilitates 
  80. the update of your configuration file.

  82. This is a FULLY FUNCTIONAL PROGRAM which counts on your honisty for 
  83. registration.
