This application imports icons and cursors, and lets you view them, copy them to the clipboard, and save them as bitmaps to be incorporated into other documents and images.
MENU
File:
- Open: Open the file(s) to extract the icons from.
- Save As: Save the icon you have selected from the list as a bitmap or an icon file.
- Exit: Exit the application.
Edit:
- Copy: Copy the selected icon to the clipboard.
- Clear All: Empty the list.
Tools:
- Set Transparent Color: Select the color intended to replace transparent areas of an icon when it is converted to a bitmap (chroma key).
Help:
- Contents: Display this window.
- About: Display information about this product.
TIPS
- You can drag icons from the desktop or files from Explorer, and drop them onto ExIcon.
- Many applications contain "unofficial" icons that may be worth discovering.
- Press the Control key to interrupt lengthy operations.
- ExIcon will list the display icon of the selected file first, followed by the icons found in the associated target or module.
- When you are viewing the icons of multiple files or a file containing many icons, ExIcon will run faster if you make the size of the window smaller.
- Icons are commonly found in files of these types:
Programs (*.exe)
Dynamic Link Libraries (*.dll)
Icons (*.ico)
EXAMPLES
You are interested in putting Netscape Navigator's icon in a Microsoft Word for Windows document:
1- From Explorer or the desktop, drag the Navigator file or icon, and drop it onto ExIcon.
2- Select the icon of your choice in the list by clicking on it.
3- Select the Copy menu command.
4- From Microsoft Word for Windows, select the Paste menu command.
