------------------------
Note: After a decade of online use, FlashPoint has terminated its
use and support of GEnie online services as a result of General
Electric Information System's or GEIS's sale of GEnie to a new owner,
who, unlike GEIS, apparently prefers engaging in some highly
questionable, if not illegal, business practices, e.g., double-billing
its subscribers in a single month, unauthorized eletronic withdraws
from subscriber's federal bank accounts, monthly usage/rate changes
(in excess of double previous months rates) without advance notice
to subscribers, etc.
Suffice it to say, the outlook for GEnie's future growth and ability to
retain its heretofore loyal 35,000 subscriber base appears rather
doubtful; therefore, FlashPoint recommends anyone considering joining
a commercial online service to look for a better alternative than GEnie.
