---------------------------------------------------------------------
What's New in Beta #5
=====================
Unzipped worlds can be loaded again from the World list.
What's New in Beta #4
=====================
CyberGate Beta_4 adds the following new features:
1. Any world can be defined as avatar room, by adding
Info { string " AvatarRoom" }
to the .wrl file.
WWWAnchors in this file will be selected as avatars, if the URL contains
"avatar", e.g. http://www.blacksun.com/vrml/avatars/dave.wrl.gz
All other WWWAnchors are handled as links to other worlds.
2. The links in PointWorld are corrected.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Software Requirements
=========================
Windows NT
* Windows NT 3.51
Windows '95
* Windows '95
2. Hardware Requirements
=========================
To run CyberGate you should have at least:
* 486/66 processor
* 8 MB memory
* 256 colors
* 10 MB free disk space
* 14.4 modem
Recommendation:
To support large worlds where you can meet lots of other people,
we recommend using a Pentium processor with 16MB memory, a graphics
card (1MB) supporting 65K colors and 800x600 screen resolution
and a 16 bit sound card.
3. Installation
================
3.1 Installation on Windows '95 and Windows NT
----------------------------------------------
CyberGate 1.0 Beta 4 has a Windows setup program.
The setup program is in a self-extracting zip archive.
Step 1: Download the self extracting archive file to a temporary directory.
Step 2: Run the self extracting archive file to unpack the archive
and launch the "Setup" procedure.
Step 3: The following inputs are required during setup:
- the installation directory (default C:\BlackSun\CyberGate)
Hint: Windows '95 doesn't support blanks in file names properly.
If you use C:\Program Files\BlackSun\CyberGate, you
can't execute CyberGate correctly from Explorer.
- if you have a previous version you will be asked whether
you want to overwrite it
- if you use the Netscape Navigator, you must specify the
Netscape "PlugIn" installation directory
- OK to our license agreement
Step 4: The self extracting archive will be extracted to several
folders (disk1 ... diskN). After the installation you may
copy each of these folders to a floppy disk. You can use this
floppy disk set to install CyberGate on another computer
without downloading the self extracting executable again.
Problems during Setup:
======================
a) Netscape Plugin:
-------------------
If you skipped the CyberGate Netscape Navigator Plug-In
component during the setup of CyberGate, you just need to
copy "<GyberGate>\npimages\npcyber.dll" to the Netscape
Navigators Plug-In subdirectory
"<Netscape Directory>\Navigator\Program\plugins\".
For further information see sectiom 4.0 below.
b) Program Group missing under Windows NT (only)
------------------------------------------------
If you don't find the Program Group specified during setup, you were
not logged in with the appropriate rights to create a common Program
Group under Windows NT. In this case you need to create a Program
Group manually and add an icon to this Program Group for
<Install-Directory>\cyber.exe.
3.2 Installed software and files
--------------------------------
Some components are Copyright 1993-1996 by Criterion Software Ltd.
We use the original GNU gzip.exe and win32gnu.dll.
<Windows Directory>\blacksun\scripts\*.*
<Windows Directory>\vic32.dll
<Windows Directory>\win32gnu.dll
<Netscape Directory>\Progam\plugins\NPZCYBER.DLL
<Install Directory>\*
3.3 Uninstall
-------------
Use the Uninstall icon in the CyberGate program folder.
4.0 WWW Browsers
================
CyberGate can run as a Netscape Navigator plug in.
Since Netscape Navigator doesn't allow switching between different
VRML plugins, you have to remove or rename the appropriate DLL in
the netscape plugin directory to get your favorite VRML browser.
You can check if there are more than one Plug-In's installed by
selecting the Help/About Plug-ins menu in Netscape Navigator.
Entries showing up "x-world/x-vrml" are VRML Plug-Ins.
If you have questions in this specific area please contact us
under info@blacksun.com.
For other WWW browsers specify CyberGate as the helper application
for x-world/x-vrml files (extension .wrl).
CyberGate will use your installed WWW browser to follow hyperlinks
to HTML pages.
