  10. </H2><P><HR SIZE=4><P>There are several adjustments you can make to increase
  11. performance speed. These adjustments can reduce the time it takes to <A HREF="#load_doc">load
  12. documents</A>, <A HREF="#load_image">load images</A>, and <A HREF="#display_image">display
  13. images</A>.<H4><A NAME="load_doc"></A>Loading Documents Faster</H4><P>You can
  14. speed up the time it takes to load documents by specifying that they will be
  15. loaded without images. Once you have loaded the document, you can choose to
  16. load specific images. By <A HREF="imag_eng.htm#image_load">selectively loading
  17. </A> images, you can browse more quickly and only view the images that you
  18. really want.<P>To specify that documents will be loaded without images:

  20. <LI>From the Options menu, select General Preferences.<LI>From the list box
  21. at the bottom of the Preferences box, select Display.<LI>Deselect Load Images
  22. Automatically.<LI>Click OK to close Preferences.

  24. <H4><A NAME="load_image"></A>Loading Images Faster</H4><P>You can set up Navigate
  25. with an Accent to use multiple network connections to load multiple images
  26. simultaneously. When this option is set, Accent will use up to five network
  27. connections to load multiple images. To choose this option:<OL>
  28. <LI>From the Options menu, select General Preferences.<LI>From the list box
  29. at the bottom of the Preferences box, select Miscellaneous.<LI>Select Multiple
  30. Images.<LI>Click OK to close Preferences.

  32. <H4><A NAME="display_image"></A>Displaying Images Faster</H4><P>To display
  33. images faster:<OL>
  34. <LI>From the Options menu, select General Preferences.<LI>From the list box
  35. at the bottom of the Preferences box, select Display.<LI>Select 
  36. <A NAME="reformat"></A>Reformat Once After All Images; Accent will load all
  37. images before reformatting the document. Although you will have to wait until
  38. all images are loaded to see any images, the total image loading time will
  39. be reduced.<LI>Click OK to close Preferences.
