EASYTYPE Documentation Page 1
EASYTYPE is designed to be a fast, easy to use, and user-friendly utility
to print files from a batch file, or any other application. Version 3.00 can
print files totally from the command line, with no user interaction needed.
EASYTYPE lets you enter a number of variables, so EASYTYPE can be adapted
to meet your printing needs. You can print labels, etc. easily.
Putting a ? on the command line will show you the commands and options
available with EASYTYPE.
*************************************************************************
** To Print this Documentation, put a caret ( ^ ) on the command line. **
*************************************************************************
To run EASYTYPE from the command line, use this format:
EASYTYPE [filename] This is the drive, path, and name of the
file you will be printing.
[header switch] This toggle sets whether a header will be
printed at the top of each page or not.
If the header toggle is off, a top margin
of blank lines will be printed.
[pitch] This is the CPI (characters per inch) that
you will be printing with. Any number is
accepted.
[left margin] The number of spaces at the left margin.
Usually one inch.
[right margin] The number of spaces at the right margin.
Also usually an inch, or possibly a half
inch.
[number of copies] How many copies of the file you want printed.
[Page length] The length (in inches) of the paper you are
using. This is used in computing page
breaks and so forth. Most sheets are 11"
long. Legal paper, however, is 14".
[Page width] The width in inches of the paper you are
using. Almost always 8 1/2 inches, but
some computer paper might be 15 inches.
This is used to compute the line sizes.
[top margin] The number of spaces at the top of each page,
usually an inch (6). If the header switch is
on, this value must be at least six.
To do a straight print of a file (with no
pagination of any sort), set both the top
and bottom margins to zero!
[bottom margin] How many spaces should be left blank at the
bottom of every page. Usually 3 to 6.

[Wrap chars added] When a line is wrapped, the second part of
the line is usually indented out another
half inch to show that it is a continuation
of the last line. This value sets how many
additional spaces should be added to the
second part of the line.
[Output to S/P] This tells EASYTYPE where to direct the
output, either to the "S"creen or "P"rinter.
When at the entry screen, you may use your arrow keys or mouse to move
to the field you want to alter, and type the value desired for that
field.
Whenever you are ready to print, press the [F10] key, and the file
will be sent. Make sure your printer is turned on.
Press [F1] at any time for help.
Press the [ESC] key to exit EASYTYPE and go to DOS.
When at the name field, press the [F2] key to go through a series of
Sidekick-like directories to select the file you want to print. To
change directories, select a directory and hit [ENTER]. Press [ESC]
while searching to exit search mode without selecting a file.
After the file is sent, this message will appear on the screen:
<A>nother Copy, <N>ew File, or e<X>it to DOS
If you press "A", another copy will immediately be sent. Pressing
"N" will let you go back to the entry screen and alter the settings.
Obviously, pressing "X" will exit EASYTYPE.
Placing a tilde ( ~ ) on the command line will make EASYTYPE exit to DOS
as soon as it is done. Placing a star ( * ) on the command line will tell
EASYTYPE to print the file without going through the entry screen. Both of
those are very useful when executing EASYTYPE from a batch file.
Sample Batch File:
------------------
WP %1
EASYTYPE %1 Y{es} 12 12 12 1 11 8.5 6 6 6 P{rinter} ~ *
EZ %1
If you don't like the way Word Pro prints a file, use this batch file,
named EZ. By typing: EZ C:ANYFILE.TXT you can enter Word Pro, using the
name you passed the batch file. When you exit Word Pro, EASYTYPE will print
the file you edited without asking you a thing. Then you will be taken back
through the loop. There are hundreds of possibilies.
