  3. CHANGES IN VERSION 3.2 over previous versions.....
  4.  
  5. * OK, folks, you can now put your WEATHER.STN file back the way it was.
  6.   No longer do you have to expand WEATHER.STN to add all those watch box
  7.   locations that weren't getting plotted.  Because now you have WEATHER.LOC,
  8.   a comprehensive listing of thousands of stations, thanks to WeatherGraphix
  9.   user Mark Hayes.  If WeatherGraphix STILL can't locate a station, add
  10.   it to WEATHER.LOC.  In this version and future versions, WEATHER.STN will
  11.   be used ONLY for surface and upper air station plotting -- not for other
  12.   uses.
  13.  
  14. * You can now use Map Station IDs to overlay VORs, airfields, and other
  15.   navaids for aviation use.  This information is contained in WEATHER.LOC.
  16.  
  17. * Radar heights are being parsed in a different manner, so you should see
  18.   a lot more information on the chart.
  19.  
  20. * Radar cell movement can be overlaid on the map using a new command in
  21.   the Radar submenu.
  22.  
  23. * Watch boxes, convective outlooks, and sigmets are being parsed somewhat
  24.   differently to make plots more bug-free.
  25.  
  26. * A "too many open files" bug that caused eventual crashing of
  27.   WeatherGraphix has been fixed.

  29. * The analysis filter option in Configuration has been restored to normal
  30.   operation.

  32. * Mexican surface observations may be included in your surface data
  33.   capture.

  35. * Upper-air data from WeatherBank (in the table format) can now be
  36.   imported as rawinsonde data.  Remember to put this information in your
  37.   DATA.UPR or equivalent file.

  39. * Upper-air support has been expanded to all levels, from 1000 to 100 mb.

  41. * Canadian RAOB (rawinsonde) observations are now imported successfully.

  43. * A problem with the New Dataset (specifying new times) has been fixed.

  48. * EGA graphic support has now been re-established.  Append /E to WEATHER

  52.   prefix a user-defined title to the legend whenever you generate a chart.

  56. Miscellaneous changes in WeatherGraphix 3.1 (over 3.0).....
  57.  
  58. * For fast basemap plotting it is HIGHLY recommended that you use a disk
  59.   cache program (such as SMARTDRIVE in MS-DOS 5.0, etc), with a storage
  60.   space for files of minimum 10K, maximum 30K or higher.  On a 386DX,
  61.   basemap plotting should not take longer than 3 seconds, not much slower
  62.   than earlier versions of this program.

  64. * Latitude/longitude lines used in V3.1/V3.2 are not available when
  65.   upgrading your older program copy; these are part of a change which
  66.   cannot be packaged with demo programs.
  67.  
  68. * Convective outlooks are now plotted (registered users only).  This data
  69.   must be stored in your surface DATA.SFC or equivalent file.  The only
  70.   problems that could arise are unlocated stations and/or an improperly
  71.   formatted report.  These convective outlooks must be the raw,
  72.   original AC bulletin (available on Weathermation and Accu-Data, not
  73.   available on CompuServe).  You may use either the ACUS1 (day 1) and/or
  74.   the ACUS2 (day 2) bulletin.  If stations could not be located, modify
  75.   your WEATHER.LOC file to add the 3-letter identifiers and their
  76.   locations.

  78. * It is known that there are some problems with the colors if you radically
  79.   modify the background colors, etc.  Please be patient -- this will be
  80.   improved in an upcoming release.

  82. MISCELLANEOUS changes over WeatherGraphix V3.0.....

  84. * Flaky, slow altimeter-setting analysis has been corrected
  85.  
  86. * Corrected a bug that caused rare occasions of altimeter setting plots
  87.   of "000" which were really another value
  88.  
  89. * Station IDs and cities are plotted in small fonts for your enjoyment.

  91. * Modified aspect ratio slightly to improve appearance of geography.

  93. * The heat index analysis is now corrected.  The equation was in error.

  95. * In radar composites, a bug was present in earlier versions which
  96.   occasionally caused the radar station to be mislocated (though its 
  97.   echoes were located fine).  This has been corrected.

  99. * Corrected bug for radar cell plotting... a lot of anomalous echoes should
  100.   be gone.

  102. * Slightly revised WEATHER.STN master listing.

  104. * Incorporates a few bug fixes, one which corrects a flaw where WeatherGraphix 
  105.   inevitably crashed after a heavy-use session with lots of Station

  109. UPGRADE INFORMATION
  110. ============================================================================

  113.               UPGRADING from WEATHER PRO V2.0 or later
  114.               ----------------------------------------
  115.  
  116. 1. Unzip this package to a temporary, empty directory.  To set up the
  117.      empty directory, just enter, for instance, MD C:\WXTEMP.
  118. 2. Copy WEATHER.PLT from your old directory or your registered disk
  119.      to the temporary directory.
  120. 3. If you would like to keep your customized city listing, copy WEATHER.CTY
  121.      from the old directory to the temporary directory.
  122. 4. The old WEATHER.STN list is -NOT- compatible with Weather Pro V3.0.
  123. 5. Run WEATHER in the temporary directory to make sure everything runs
  124.      properly.
  125. 6. If all looks OK, delete everything in your old directory and copy all
  126.      contents of the temporary directory to the old directory.  Then
  127.      delete the temporary directory.

  133.    This is a rather extensive update, since the philosophy and structure
  134. of the program has changed, along with the name.  
  135.  
  136.    To update your program, make a new directory, preferably C:\WEATHER,
  137. and unzip this entire package into it.  Then follow these instructions. 
  138.  
  139.    1. MANDATORY!!!  Copy RADAR.PLT from your old directory, renaming it to 
  140.         WEATHER.PLT in the new one.  You can use a command like:
  141.         COPY C:\RADSCAN\RADAR.PLT C:\WEATHER\WEATHER.PLT
  142.    
  143.    2. If you have customized your town and city list, copy RADAR.CTY from 
  144.         the old directory to WEATHER.CTY in the new one.  Allow it to 
  145.         overwrite the old file.  
  146.    
  147.    3. Your new program is WEATHER.EXE in the new directory.  Read the
  148.         enclosed WEATHER.DOC and type WEATHER by itself to run the program. 
  149.  
  150.    4. When you get a chance, delete RadarScan from your disk drive as you'll
  151.         no longer need it.  
  152.  
  153. Changes RadarScan users might want to be aware of:
  154.  
  155.    * Your data file is no longer RADAR.TXT, but DATA.TXT.
  156.    * There are no command line parameters anymore.  However, if your data 
  157.        is not in DATA.TXT, specify it by adding it to the end of the WEATHER
  158.        startup command (e.g. WEATHER 04JUL92.DAT).
  159.    * You do not need to memorize the time for the weather data.  Weather
  160.        Pro will accurately figure it out for you.
  161.    * All commands are now keystroke-driven.  Once inside the program, you
  162.        can plot or look at maps or change the configuration.  See WEATHER.DOC
  163.        for further details.
