  1.            Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever, San Joaquin Fever)
  2. SYMPTOMS of the benign, Primary form may include coughing, fever, sore
  3. throat, chest pains or no symptoms at all. Symptoms of the spreading and
  4. chronic, Progressive form may include a low-grade fever, loss of appetite,
  5. weight and strength, a bluish color, difficulty breathing and bloody sputum.
  6. CAUSES are from the fungus Coccidioides immitis through the inhaling of a
  7. fungus spore-laden dust. Affects mostly men, ages 25 to 55.
  8. TREATMENT. The Progressive type can be fatal. Treatment with amphotericin.
  9. .Primary type usually needs no treatment.
