October, 1992
As we go to press this is the status of tax legislation:
The Revenue Act of '92 has been passed by the House of
Representatives. White House officials have been quoted in the
press as predicting that President Bush will veto the Revenue Act
of '92.
The Revenue Act of '92 includes these depreciation provisions:
tax incentives for 50 enterprise zones
allow goodwill and other intangibles to be amortized over a
14 year period
lengthen the depreciation period for non-residential real
property to 40 years
On October 8, 1992 the Senate passed the Comprehensive
National Energy Policy Act of '92. The bill has already been
passed by the House. The bill has been sent to the White House
and it is expected to be signed by the President.
The Comprehensive National Energy Policy Act includes these
depreciation provisions:
repeal the alternative minimum tax preferences for
intangible drilling costs and excess percentage depletion
deducted by oil and gas producers other than large retailers
and refiners
When a tax bill is passed, HammerSoft (tm) will quickly
incorporate the new laws into Fixed Asset Pro and notify all
registered users of the changes made to the program. We also
keep abreast of changes to IRS regulations concerning
depreciation and will send update notices periodically. Register
your program to keep up to date on all the latest changes.
