1 Getting Started
1.1 Overview
Daily Log Book was created to serve as a daily log or diary.
It is the perfect tool for keeping free form text records on any
subject. Text is entered and viewed on a day by day basis. An on
screen calendar is provided for moving to a different day. Search
allow you to find all references to a word or phrase in seconds.
Any day or range of dates can be printed to printer or disk file.
Multiple log books can be used to separate subjects. Other features
include selectable color schemes, support for 43 and 50 screen
lines, password data protection, and macros. Daily Log Book's ease
of use make it simple for even beginners to learn.
1.2 Requirements
Daily Log Book requires a computer meeting these requirements to
operate:
IBM PC/XT/AT or compatible system
DOS Version 2.1 or later
350K free memory
The following are not required but are supported and can improve
efficiency:
Hard Disk Drive
Mircosoft Mouse or compatible
Color Monitor

containing the program, type LOG, and press ENTER at the DOS prompt.
Command line options:

/MONO use monochrome color scheme
/LCD use LCD color scheme
/LINES:25 use 25 screen line video
/LINES:43 use 43 screen line video
/LINES:50 use 50 screen line video

/DATE:mm/dd/yyyy initial date to use when program begins
/LATEST go to latest log entry when program begins

/? display list of command line options
Command line options are placed after the program name when
starting a DOS program. For example, to start Daily Log Book,
display the latest log entry in the default log book, and use the
LCD color scheme you enter this at the DOS command line:
LOG /LATEST /LCD
Note that most of the functions of the command line options may
be configured and saved from within Daily Log Book. This is usually
more convenient than using the command line options. Command line
options do take precedence over configuration settings. This makes
the command line options useful for temporarily overriding the
configuration settings.

displayed in the editor. Anything you type is displayed in the
editor and will be saved as text associated with the current date.
