In this lesson you learn to:
■ start a project in the Fast track
■ add, expand, shorten, and delete tasks
■ save your project

With HPM, you can begin planning your project
in any of several different windows.
You start here with the ~Fast track~2.
Your boss needs to know how you've scheduled
things for the Expo. You decide that HPM's
Fast track is just right for presenting a
quick, clear picture.

Planning for the Expo involves a couple of
major tasks -- setting up travel and
staffing the booth.
Fast track lets you display these tasks as
horizontal lines against a timescale. You
move, expand, or shorten them, experimenting
with various time periods or placements.
With Fast track, you do it all right on
the screen.

To start a new project, select ~Create a project~2
from the Main Menu.

This is the Fast track window. The cursor is in
the ~task area~2. The ~timescale~2 above shows dates
and units of time. The ~notes column~2 at the left
can hold comments about each row of tasks. At
the bottom of the screen is an ~information line~2.

Add your first task now. One way is by pulling

You're already on the task. You can
simply add days with a key press.

You expand your task line simply by
pressing the Plus (+) key. Each press
expands the line by one time unit (in
this case, a day). Add one more.

Hmmmm...maybe, if you add one more...

to fix. Just press the Minus (-) key
to lop off a day. (Again, that's the
one on the keypad.)
