  6. Racontex 3.22 differs from 3.1 in only a few ways.  A few  bugs have been fixed
  7. and  the display  routine has  been altered  so that  pressing =>  at  the last
  8. occurrence of  a search criterion no  longer returns  you automatically  to the
  9. "search criterion" screen, you have to press ESC to get back.

  11. DOS 4.01 is not fully compatible with earlier versions of DOS and many programs 
  12. have had to be revised to  work  with it.  Racontex is one of them, and version 
  13. 3.22 will work with DOS 4.01 and 5.0 as well as with previous versions.

  15. The program may now be navigated using a mouse, as well as the keyboard.

  17. The main  addition is WordPerfect 5.1 support in the  search program.  When the
  18. [P] option  is  used to  write  to a  WordPerfect file,  version  3.1 wrote  in
  19. WordPerfect  4.2   format,  which  WordPerfect  5.0   automatically  converted.
  20. WordPerfect 5.1 does not, but it will read WordPerfect 5.0 files.  Racontex now
  21. writes as a  default in WordPerfect 5.0  format.  If you  only have WordPerfect
  22. version 4.2 you may still obtain files it can read by putting  the option /WP42
  23. on the command line when starting RACONTEX.

  25. Since Racontex  appends  to  a  file  if you  give it  the name of  an existing
  26. file, it now checks the file type  and if the file is written in WP  5.0 or 5.1
  27. it writes in  that format, even if the /WP42 option is  set.  If the file is in
  28. WP 4.2 format it writes in that format even if /WP42 is not set.

  30. Printer and File export has been expanded  so that  all pages of a document, or
  31. all  pages  matching  the  search criteria may be exported (previously only the
  32. currently displayed page could be exported for each key press).

  34. To aid  in  protecting  proprietary  information published in Racontex form, an
  35. option  has  been  added  which makes a database "non-portable" (illicit copies 
  36. won't work) and limits file export to the current page.

  38. The  REGISTER program makes possible registration by the use of a "registration
  39. number" which may be given by telephone or other means, principally intended to
  40. allow  the  author  to  correct  misspellings  on  the  identification  line of 
  41. registered copies.

  43. The  LOAD  routine  now  operates  on  larger files (or breaks them into larger
  44. pieces) which speeds up the load by 30% or so.

  46. The limit on document size has been raised from 8,000 pages to 16,000 pages.
