Documentation for PRINTLAB
Printlab will print standard 3 inch by one inch single-wide
mailing labels. To run the program, type:
printlab
at the C>. The program will ask for the pathname for the input
file (mailing addresses). This is the standard DOS path, and may
include backslashes, a filename, and a file extension. You are
then asked if you want to print the comment lines. Finally, you
are asked if you want to print an alignment label. Then the
printing begins.
Any standard text editor may be used to create the mailing list
file. Each label can have up to 5 lines with up to 80 characters
on each line, although 3 1/2" labels can only handle a maximum of
35 characters at 10 characters per inch. Each label can have a
single comment lines. Comment lines begin with a percent (%) sign
and are only printed when you answer 'Y' to the question about
printing them. This is normally done when you are printing the
list on plain paper and is never a requirement. When you answer
'Y' to the alignment question the program will print 5 lines of
X's, filling the label. You may then adjust the printer. You
may request an alignment as many times as needed. When you answer
'N', the printing begins.
I needed to write this simple label program for a charity project.
I am glad to give it to any who wish to use it. If any one has
any comments or suggestions for enhancements to the program, let
me know.
