UPDATE: Version 3.000x
[International version of SERVICE PLUS [TM]]
If you have a floppy based system, call me between 9 A.M. and 4 P.M. CST on
any weekday to complete this conversion.
Methodology for updating your version: [hard disks only]
if your version is version 2.645 or after
This update methodology assumes that you are updating from ANY earlier
version of SERVICE PLUS [TM] that has the ability to AUTOMATICALLY back up
your data when you exit the program.
Make a backup of the data for SERVICE PLUS [TM] by exiting your current
version of the program and selecting the backup function. Once out of the
program, enter 'BACKUP' from your hard drive to place today's current data
onto a data disk reserved for this purpose. Place a write-protect tab onto
that disk and, if space permits, create a second subdirectory: '\ACS'.
Then copy EVERYTHING from '\SERVICE' to '\ACS'. Once done, delete every
file in '\SERVICE' and then delete the directory entry itself with this
command:
RMDIR SERVICE
Observe the files on your data disk, where the backup up data is kept.
Let's say the file containing today's backup is: '0520ACS.ARC' This means
that you performed the backup on month '05', day '20', or May 20th.
Take the new version of SERVICE PLUS [TM] and install it onto your hard
drive as per the instructions in 'GO' and 'GO2'. Once installed but BEFORE
you execute 'SERVICE', replace the 'GO2' disk in drive A with the data
backup disk. Then, from your hard drive, enter this command:
PKXARC -R A:0520ACS.ARC
This will take all of your data from the most recent backup and restore it
to your hard drive. As a final step, delete all files ending in 'NTX', if
any, with this command:
DEL *.NTX
Then execute 'SERVICE' from your subdirectory and, after the initial
installation process, you should be greeted as a Registered User. If not,
repeat this entire process ONCE. If you are still not greeted as
Registered, then call me.
Retain the subdirectory '\ACS' for a few days until you are certain that
the upgrade in '\SERVICE' was successful. Once you are satisfied of that,
delete everything in '\ACS'.
Methodology for updating your version: [hard disks only]
if your version is prior to version 2.645
Copy all files ending in the letters 'DBF' and 'DBT', if any, to a floppy
disk on drive A. Place a write protect tab on that disk. This is now your
'Backup' disk. If you have a subdirectory called '\SERVICE', delete
everything in that directory and then the directory itself with this
command:
RMDIR SERVICE
Take the new version of SERVICE PLUS [TM] and install it onto your hard
drive as per the instructions in 'GO' and 'GO2'. Once installed but BEFORE
you execute 'SERVICE', replace the 'GO2' disk in drive A with the data
backup disk. Then, from your hard drive, '\SERVICE', enter this command:
COPY A:*.DBF
COPY A:*.DBT [if any]
This will take all of your data from the most recent backup and restore it
to your hard drive.
