rbm software
Sanctioned FIELD GENERAL
Computer Football Tournament
LIST OF REQUIREMENTS:
* All tournament participants must be registered users of rbm
software's FIELD GENERAL software.
* Minimum of 8 different teams per tournament (1 team may be
automated. If only 6 registered users can get together, the
7th team can be automated and receive a 1st round bye.
* Teams may consist of 1 or 2 players. For 2 player teams, player
duties may be divided as the team wishes (offensive and
defensive coordinators, head coach and assistant coach, etc.).
* Tournaments will have the double-elimination format (see the
provided sample tournament format). This format will assure
every participant of playing 2 games as well as keeping the time
needed to complete the tournament fairly short.
* Tournaments must consist of ALL regulation length games OR ALL
short games. This will assure the conformity of game stats
and records between all games.
* ALL games must be set-up in the following manner:
- Play clock must be activated and set for 30 seconds.
- Real-time game clock must be activated for the last 2
minutes of the 1st half and the last 5 minutes of the 2nd
half and overtime quarters.
- Weather conditions must be picked at random by the
computer.
- Two-point conversion must be activated.
- All teams should be set-up as even in team characteristics.
* Tournament games may all be played on the same day at 1 location
or they may be played over a period of time (not to exceed 90
days) at different locations.
* A minimum of 3 participants from 3 different participating teams
must be present at ALL games. Hopefully, this will assure a
neutral party who will confirm final results and proper conduct
and sportsmanship by participants (proper conduct refers to NO
cheating and NO game disruptions or disturbances).
* All participants who exhibit unsportsmanlike conduct or who have
a record of forfeiting games will be barred from participating
in future tournaments for a period of time to be set by rbm
software.
* All tournament participants must have a tournament coordinator
who will have the following responsibilities:
- Be the tournament's main contact to rbm software.
- Supervise the tournament and rule upon unsportsmanlike
conduct and forfeiture incidents. The coordinator must
also adopt a forfeiture policy which defines a forfeit in
regards to your specific tournament. This is very
important for tournaments which are played over several
days time where participants must agree on times and places
of games. The coordinator must then determine if a game
should be rescheduled or forfeited by the team failing
to appear.
- Collect all game documents and sanctioning fees (see
below). Game documents include: game_log.txt and
topshort.txt or topstats.txt (whichever is appropriate for
your tournament). One printed copy of each document should
be collected with signatures of both participants and
neutral party on each. IMPORTANT: Before play, make sure
the data (.DAT) file which corresponds to the All-Time Game
Records file is erased so all records in the All-Time Game
Records file reflect performances of the tournament game.
- Sanctioning fees must be collected and sent to rbm software
before the tournament begins, so rbm software may confirm
the eligibility and team names of all participants. All
teams are required to have unique names which will be used
by the participant in all future rbm software sanctioned
games. Unique names will help in tracking national records
and stats. All automated teams, only 1 per tournament,
will have the team name "rbm COMPUTER". When submitting
fees to rbm software for tournament approval, each 1st time
participant must submit a team name and 2 alternate team
names in case 1st choice is already in use. rbm software
reserves the right to reject any team name which rbm
software thinks is obviously profane or in poor taste.
Players may be on more than 1 team as long as the teams are
unique. i.e. A player may have a team for himself only
and may also have a team where he is partners with another
registered user. However, a player may NOT play on MORE
than 1 team in any 1 tournament. (See attached tournament
entry form.)
- At the end of the tournament, send all documents (carefully
labeled) to rbm software for verification.
* A small fee of $5.00 for each participant is required for
sanctioning by rbm software. This fee covers the cost of the
winner's certificate, administration of tournament documents,
and correspondence (postage, etc.).
* Once rbm software approves the tournament, rbm software will
send the tournament coordinator the tournament format complete
with 1st round pairings. Participants then have 90 days to
complete the tournament. Tournaments which are not completed
within 90 days may not be certified.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE FOR YOUR SANCTIONING FEE:
* Each participant will be sent copies of tournament "All-Time
Game Records" & "Won-Loss Records" and national "All-Time Game
Records" & "Won-Loss Records".
* The tournament winner will receive a certificate confirming the
win and possible new status (a tournament win does not necessary
qualify a player for a higher rank - see below).
* Non-winners who gain a higher rank after tournament play will
also receive a certificate confirming their new status.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR FIELD GENERAL RANKINGS:
FIELD GENERAL - 1 tournament win.
ONE STAR FIELD GENERAL - 2 tournament wins and overall tournament
winning percentage of .500 or better OR
3 tournament wins.
TWO STAR FIELD GENERAL - 3 tournament wins and overall tournament
winning percentage of .500 or better OR
4 tournament wins.
THREE STAR FIELD GENERAL - 5 tournament wins and overall tournament
winning percentage of .500 or better OR
6 tournament wins.
FOUR STAR FIELD GENERAL - 7 tournament wins and overall tournament
winning percentage of .500 or better OR
8 tournament wins and overall tournament
winning percentage of .333 or better.
FIVE STAR FIELD GENERAL - 9 tournament wins and overall tournament
winning percentage of .500 or better OR
10 tournament wins and overall
tournament winning percentage of .333
or better.
(For ranking purposes, winning percentage is taken after all
tournament games have been played. i.e. A team may be 2-0 halfway
through the tournament, but finish the tournament 2-2. Thus, even
though the team's winning percentage goes up during the tournament
(possibly qualifying them for the next rank), for ranking purposes,
the team's winning percentage is based on its 2-2 record and never
on its 2-0 record which occurred halfway through the tournament.)
As you can see, it is possible to increase your rank by TWO
levels in ONE tournament (by winning the tournament and upping your
winning percentage) and it is possible to increase your rank by not
even winning a tournament (by upping your winning percentage). rbm
software reserves the right to award new rankings even when the
previously stated qualifications are not met. This will
