Quick Instructions
The following information is a brief summary of the instuctions to help
you get started. You can type F2 at any time during the game to read the
complete instructions.
Mouse
The mouse controls your flight stick and the buttons fire the weapons. To
fire the missiles click the left mouse button. To fire the lasers keep the
right mouse button pressed down.
Weapons
To fire your weapons you must have a lock on a target. To get a lock you
must maneuver the target until it is between your crosshairs.
If you have a missile lock on a target a circle will appear around the
target and the targets shield strength will be displayed below and to the
right.
If you have a laser lock, 4 lines will appear around the target. If you
have both a laser and a missile lock on the same target only the missile lock
is displayed.
Radar
The large circle on the left is the 2 dimensional radar. Objects above
you are orange and objects below you are green. The large circle on the right
is the 3 dimensional radar. Objects in front of you are green and objects
behind you are orange. Cruisers are represented as vectors, flares as dots
and missiles as flashing dots.
Flares
You can fire flares to decoy missiles and block enemy cruisers from
locking on your cruiser. Just fire the flare so that it comes between your
cruiser and the enemy cruiser or missile. The two keys to use are:
v - Fire flare forward.
c - Fire flare backward.
Missile Warning
If a missile has a lock on your cruiser you will see a flashing missile
symbol to the lower left of the crosshairs.
Keyboard
During the game the following keys can be used:
F1 - Quick instructions. F3 - Toggle sound on or off.
F2 - Instructions. Esc - To quit.
F5 - The program needs to know if you are using a 2 or 3 button mouse. For
example, if you have a 3 button mouse you can use the middle button to
fire instead of the right one.
F9 - If you change the configuration from its default by using the F5 key,
it will only affect the current game you are playing. To make the
change permanent you must hit this key.
Problems
If you have problems running this software try the following:
If you aren't reading the mouse buttons correctly, the problem is most
likely the button assignment. A two button mouse should have the button
assignment LR. A three button mouse should have the button assignment LMR.
Set the mouse driver for these.
If your running from a DOS shell, reboot the computer and run the program
directly from DOS.
Remove any TSR's other than the mouse driver before running this program.
Systems that have a turbo mode should be run in turbo mode.
This game must be played with the Caps Lock off.
