  4. +++ 1. Drift Overview +++

  6. The year is 5300 and you are in command of the brand new experimental
  7. DriftRunner V3X22 (yep... a major improvement over the old V2X22
  8. series). Humanity has colonized huge parts of the galaxy but the
  9. mysterious Vhol Drift has never been successfully explored. Strange
  10. aliens with strange technology live inside the dangerous Drift and it is
  11. said that he who successfully explores the Drift will be both famous and
  12. rich.

  14. So, your mission is clear. Enter the Vhol Drift and try to penetrate as
  15. deep as you can. But beware... the asteroid field gets more dense the
  16. further you go and encounters with the evil Polygunzz are also more
  17. likely. You have to shoot and destroy all the asteroids (and other
  18. obstacles) to clear a path through the Vhol Drift to make it possible
  19. for Terran exploration crafts to enter the Drift and exploit its
  20. resources and discover its mysteries. The task will not be easy but if
  21. anyone can do it, it surely is you...

  27. Drift is Freeware. This means you can copy it as much as you like as
  28. long as you don't change anything to the original program. I spend a lot
  29. of time programming this game and I hope you enjoy it. If you really
  30. like it you can always send me a postcard.

  32. The following files should be included in Drift102.zip (or other
  33. compression format).

  41. To install Drift copy the files Drift.exe and Drift.hlp to the directory
  42. of your choice (or make a new directory). Then use the program manager
  43. to add a new program item to the program manager group of your choice
  44. (see your Windows manual for more information (Chapter 3: Creating a
  45. Program Item)). Now you are ready to run Drift...

  47. +++ 4. Drift under OS/2 +++
  48.  
  49. To run Drift in WinOS/2, simply create a new program object, fill in the
  50. full path for the Drift executable and go to the Session page. Set the
  51. IDLE_SENSITIVITY value to 100 and click on the Save button. Drift should
  52. now run smoothly in seamless Windows mode.
