  2.                            LEVEL EDITOR FOR APOGEE'S
  3.                    RISE OF THE TRIAD

  5. This version of RottED has many improvements over version 1.0.  I received
  6. many helpful suggestions for new features after releasing v1.0, and this
  7. version contains many of the most-requested items. The following listing
  8. gives you a quick summary of some new features.
  9.  
  10.     *     Pick up the Wall, Sprite, or Info plane value from a map 
  11.         cell and then copy the value into other map cells using 
  12.         single or multiple-cell edit modes.
  13.     *     Quick link cells using map location coordinates. Speeds the 
  14.         placement and programming for switch-controlled objects such 
  15.         as doors, firechutes, etc.
  16.     *     Floor Fill edit mode for fast floor fills inside walled areas.
  17.     *    Default loading of the upper left corner (0,0 through 5,0) 
  18.         map cells.
  19.     *     Added a "Did you save your work?" feature to the Exit 
  20.         routines.
  21.     *     Automatic Height Adjustment for the rapid placement of 
  22.         objects having fixed and variable incremental/decremental 
  23.         heights (stairs, raised GADS platforms, etc.).
  24.     *     The map scaling routines no longer reorient the map to Cell 
  25.         0,0 when you change display resolutions.  Now you can zoom 
  26.         in and out of a map area without having to reposition 
  27.         the map.
  28.     *     Added another display resolution for a total of six scaled 
  29.         displays that can be used for editing and viewing maps.
  30.     *     Expanded online help.
  31.     *    Eliminated the double screen refreshes associated with the 
  32.         scroll bar controls.
  33.     *     Tile Brightness control for adjusting the brightness 
  34.         (intensity) of displayed or printed image tiles.
  35.     *     Print feature for printing maps.  Multi-page capability for 
  36.         large maps.  Prints user-defined ranges of map cells.
  37.     *     Expanded Undo features.  All edits can now be undone, 
  38.         including multiple-cell additions and deletions as well as 
  39.         floor fills.  
  40.     *     More keyboard Hot Keys for fast editing.

  44.                                 INSTALLATION

  46. If you have a previous version of RottED installed, please delete it
  47. completely before installing this version.
  48.  
  49. Install RottED just as you would most custom Windows applications.  Copy
  50. ALL the RottED distribution files to the desired subdirectory and select 
  51. the "File/New" menu option and then select "Program Item" to create a new 
  52. Windows item.  Enter the Description (RottED), Command Line path/name 
  53. (c:\rott\rotted.exe if you put RottED into the ROTT area),  Working 
  54. Directory (c:\rott for the ROTT area), and finally, select the icon for 
  55. RottED.  The RottED.EXE file has a built-in icon so select the Change 
  56. Icon command and select the icon.  To run RottED, just double-click its 
  57. Icon.

  59. Please make note of the folowing things when first using RottED:
  60.  
  61.     *    Start RottED and read the online help FIRST.  You'll be
  62.         up and running much quicker that way.
  63.     *    If RottED doesn't seem to display correctly or you observe
  64.         any other "problems", read the online help Technical
  65.         Help section.

  71. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the individuals that helped
  72. test the BETA version of RottED v1.1.  Thanks also goes to all of you who
  73. provided the many helpful comments and suggestions for things you wanted
  74. to see in the next version.  I hope you find this version of RottED even 
  75. easier to use than the last.  The new improvements were intended to
  76. make your editing even faster, and I hope you find this to be the case.
