  18. NCSA Mosaic is an Internet navigation and data retrevial tool that will 
  19. allow you to access networked information with the click of a mouse button.  
  20. Mosaic is capable of accessing data from the World Wide Web servers (HTTP), 
  21. Gopher servers, FTP servers and News servers (NNTP).  Mosaic can access 
  22. other data services through gateway servers.  These services provide you
  23. search capabilities in database environments such as PH, Archie, WAIS, 
  24. and Veronica.  NCSA Mosaic was designed to provide its user transparent 
  25. access to these information sources and services.  NCSA Mosaic software 
  26. is copyrighted by The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois (UI), 
  27. and ownership remains with the UI. The UI grants you a license to use the 
  28. Software for academic, research and internal business purposes only, 
  29. without a fee.

  79. <DT><H4> Windows NT users and Win95 beta-testers</H4>
  80. <DD>Windows NT and Win95 users don't need Win32s.  The operating systems
  81. are 32-bit operating systems with OLE support built-in. 
  82. <P>  
  83. <DT><H4>Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups Users</H4>
  84. <DD><B>You MUST install WIN32S BEFORE you install Mosaic.</B>
  85. Win3.1(3.11) and Windows for Workgroups 3.1(WfW3.11) are 16-bit operating systems
  86.  and you'll need to use Microsoft's Win32s software.  This software will allow you 
  87. to run 32-bit applications in Windows 3.1 or WfW 3.11.  Since Mosaic is also an OLE 
  88. compatible application, and <B>Mosaic users must</B> use Win32s with the 
  89. OLE.

  92. <DD>The latest version of Win32s, <A HREF="ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/Mosaic/Windows/w32s125.exe">v1.25</a>,
  93. was released by Microsoft to address the National Language Support problem and the compobj.dll 
  94. problems some Windows users were experiencing with Win32s v1.20.

  96. We recommend you upgrade to this latest version if you
  97. prefer to use a language other than English(American) in your Windows environment, OR if
  98. you experiencing problems with the compobj.dll library while using Microsoft Office, 
  99. Excel or Word.  <B><I> In general, if you are NOT experiencing problems with Win32s 
  100. v1.20, upgrading to Win32s v1.25 is not required at this time.
