-
- Transaldolase (EC 2.2.1.2) is the enzyme of the pentose-phosphate pathway that
- catalyzes the reversible transfer of a dihydroxyacetone group from fructose 6-
- phosphate to erythrose 4-phosphate thus forming sedoheptulose 7-phosphate and
- glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate. A lysine has been implicated [1] in the catalytic
- mechanism of the enzyme; it acts as a nucleophilic group that attacks the
- carbonyl group of fructose-6-phosphate.
-
- -Consensus pattern: L-I-K-[LI]-[AS]-S-T-[WY]-[QE]-G
- [K is the active site residue]
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
