- * NAD-dependent glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase signature *
- **************************************************************
-
- NAD-dependent glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.8) (GPD) catalyzes
- the reversible reduction of dihydroxyacetone phosphate to glycerol-3-
- phosphate. It is a eukaryotic cytosolic homodimeric protein of about 40 Kd. As
- a signature pattern we selected a region that contains a conserved histidine
- thought [1] to be implicated in the catalytic mechanism.
-
- -Consensus pattern: [DN]-[LIV](3)-F-x-[LIV]-P-H-Q-F
- [H is a probable active site residue]
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
- -Last update: June 1994 / First entry.
