  5. NAD-dependent  glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.8) (GPD) catalyzes
  6. the reversible   reduction   of   dihydroxyacetone  phosphate  to  glycerol-3-
  7. phosphate. It is a eukaryotic cytosolic homodimeric protein of about 40 Kd. As
  8. a signature  pattern  we selected a region that contains a conserved histidine
  9. thought [1] to be implicated in the catalytic mechanism.
