  5. Ribosomal protein L20 is one of the proteins from the large ribosomal subunit.
  6. In Escherichia coli, L20 is known to bind directly to the 23S rRNA. It belongs
  7. to a   family   of   ribosomal  proteins  which,  on  the  basis  of  sequence
  8. similarities [1], groups:
  9.  
  10.  - Eubacterial L20.
  11.  - Plant and algal chloroplast L20.
  12.  - Cyanelle L20.
  13.  
  14. L20 is a protein of about 120 amino-acid residues.  As a signature pattern, we
  15. selected a conserved region in the central section.
