- * GHMP kinases putative ATP-binding domain *
- ********************************************
-
- The following kinases contains, in their N-terminal section, a conserved Gly/
- Ser-rich region which is probably involved in the binding of ATP [1]. These
- kinases are listed below.
-
- - Galactokinase (EC 2.7.1.6).
- - Homoserine kinase (EC 2.7.1.39).
- - Mevalonate kinase (EC 2.7.1.36).
- - Phosphomevalonate kinase (EC 2.7.4.2).
-
- We have called this group of kinases 'GHMP' (from the first letter of their
- substrate).
-
- -Consensus pattern: [LIVM]-P-x-[GSTA]-x(0,1)-G-L-[GS]-S-S-[GSA]-[GSTAC]
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL, except
- for P.aeruginosa homoserine kinase which does not seem to be homologous with
- the other GHMP kinases.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
- -Last update: October 1993 / Pattern and text revised.
