  5. Ribosomal protein L15 is one of the proteins from the large ribosomal subunit.
  6. In Escherichia coli, L15 is known to bind the 23S rRNA. It belongs to a family
  7. of ribosomal  proteins  which,  on  the  basis  of  sequence similarities [1],
  8. groups:

  10.  - Eubacterial L15.
  11.  - Archaebacterial L15.
  12.  - Plant chloroplast L15 (nuclear-encoded).
  13.  - Mammalian L27a.
  14.  - Tetrahymena thermophila L29.
  15.  - Fungi L27a (L29, CRP-1, CYH2).

  17. L15 is a protein of 144 to 154 amino-acid residues. As a signature pattern, we
  18. selected a conserved region in the C-terminal section of these proteins.
