  5. Interleukin-7 (IL-7) [1] is  a  cytokine  that  serves as a  growth factor for
  6. early lymphoid cells of both B- and T-cell lineages.    As a signature pattern
  7. for IL-7, we selected  a  conserved  heptapeptide,  located  in the C-terminal
  8. section of  the  protein.  This  pattern  includes  one  of  the six conserved
  9. cysteines that are probably involved in disulfide bonds.
