  18. AnigaWorld was developed with an Amiga 2000.

  30. Version 1.0    o The first working and useful version of AmigaWorld.
  31. (01-jan-1993)       Published as a freeware version with some limitations
  32.   [Fish #804]       on AmigaLibDisk #804.

  34. Version 1.01   o Added manual selection/deselection of countries (with the
  35. (24-mar-1993)       right mouse button)
  36.    [internal]  o Most menu selections are restored after changing font, screen

  40. Version 1.02   o Invented code numbers for the countries. See the chapter

  49. (07-apr-1993)  o AmigaWorld can now also express itself in Dutch. The Dutch
  50.   [Fish #851]       data files were created by Ruud Hoekzema of Driebergen

  52.                o The numbers that appear in the country window are now
  53.                     displayed as groups of three figures. That makes them
  54.                     more readable.
  55.                o Fixed a bug that caused the program to terminate when you
  56.                     changed from a language with a long name to a language
  57.                     with a short name.
  58.                     (e.g. "Nederlands" (10 chars) -> "Deutsch" (7 chars))
  59.                o Removed the menu short cuts. They seemed quite useless to me
  60.                     in the end.

  62. Version 1.11   o Fixed a bug that caused the program to quit if you tried to
  63. (13-arp-1993)       use a font with a name longer than 10 chars.
  64.                o Fixed a bug that made topaz font look rather strange if you
  65.                     had already used another font before.
  66.                o If there are open country windows when you change language,
  67.                     font, or screen mode, the country windows are adapted to
  68.                     your new selections.
  69.                o You can close info and config windows via the keyboard now:
  70.                     Press return to confirm changes or any other key to undo
  71.                     and exit.
  72.                o The width of the menus in the screen title bar is adapted to
  73.                     the length of the texts they contain, making the Swedish
  74.                     version look better.

  76. Version 2.0    o The flags of all independent countries and some dependencies
  77. (13-jun-1993)       are displayed together with the other data.
  78.   [Fish #893]  o The religions which are most common in a country are listed.
  79.                o AmigaWorld tells you about membership in important inter-
  80.                     national organisations (independent countries only).
  81.                o You can also get a short description and all members of these
  82.                     organisations by selecting the menu item "Search for" /

  84.                o The data about languages has become more precise.
  85.                o AmigaWorld first calculates the size of a country window and
  86.                     THEN opens it. No more giant windows that are shrinked
  87.                     later on!
  88.                o If the data about a country is already displayed, you cannot
  89.                     open its window again.
  90.                o Minor optical improvements, e.g. in the window that pops up
  91.                     when an error occurs in the country data.
  92.                o The freeware and the full functional version use the same
  93.                     output file now. The few different output texts are held
  94.                     internaly.
  95.                o Every text in 'awo.data' had a maximum length of 80 chars in
  96.                     older versions. Now those texts that are displayed in the
  97.                     country window can be 120 chars long, the other ones (for
  98.                     the search funtcion) only 30 chars long. That's why some
  99.                     data became more precise, without eating up more memory.
  100.                o A new country is born: Welcome, Eritrea!

  102. Version 2.01   o It is now possible to get a list of a country and all its
  103. (01-jul-1993)       dependencies by typing its abbreviation in the search
  104.                     gadget (when "Search for"/"Name" is selected).

  106. Version 2.02   o A Finnish translation of AmigaWorld was created by Mika
  107. (11-jan-1994)       Leinonen of Ylitornio, Finland. Thank you Mika!
  108.                o Four Australian Island Territories were added.
  109.                o All numeric data was updated.
  110.                o The font has got a better name now: It's called "Beatles".

  112. Version 2.03   o Two new translations are available: French and Italian users
  113. (28-feb-1994)       can "talk" with AmigaWorld in their native languages, too.

  115. Version 2.1    o AmigaWorld is now available in Danish.
  116. (07-mar-1994)  o Line two of 'awo.output' does now contain the char which
  117. [Finnish PD      divides decimal numbers, i.e. either point or comma.
  118.  series]       o Three dependencies were added: Åland, Ashmore/Cartier and
  119.                     Galapagos.
  120.                o The flags of several dependencies were added.
  121.                o The location line in the data file can contain more than
  122.                     one entry now, making the search function more efficient.
  123.                o The source code is not included in the fully funtional
  124.                     version anymore. Nobody was interested anyway, and I
  125.                     spend one diskette and a bit of copying time less.
  126.                o The price of AmigaWorld has increased (it's the inflation,
  127.                     you know?). You have to pay ten more Deutsche Mark to
  128.                     receive the fully functional version. Clever users can
  129.                     claim to have read the doc files of an older version.

  131. Version 3.0    o If you click on the little map with the left mouse button
  132. (02-jun-1994)       a big world map pops up. Now you can select a continent
  133.                     that does also appear on a map. When clicking on a country
  134.                     its data will be displayed.
  135.                o The map window contains a little menu. When you select the
  136.                     item "description" a text about the continent on the map
  137.                     will be displayed.
  138.                o Until now, the selection in the country list was restored by
  139.                     clicking the little map. This function belongs to a new
  140.                     item in the "Selection" menu now.
  141.                o The country windows also have got a little menu: The first
  142.                     item is not implemented yet, the second one makes Amiga-
  143.                     World display one of its ten maps, showing the country's
  144.                     location.
  145.                o The third item enables you to get a list of all dependencies
  146.                     of a country; or to call the data of its mother country.
  147.                o The "Sort" menu of the main window contains one more item:
  148.                     It enables you to turn around the order of the country
  149.                     list.
  150.                o The procedure that displays text about continents, organiz-
  151.                     ations (and soon countries) works with bold, italic and
  152.                     red text now.
  153.                o You can softly scroll up and down in these text by using two
  154.                     arrows. I like it better then the proportinal gadget.
  155.                o The arrangement of the interlace screen has been extremely
  156.                     improved, waste of space was reduced. All countries of
  157.                     a continent can now be displayed in the list at once.
  158.                o The file "awo.output" contains 50 more lines, for new output
  159.                     texts. Therefore it is not compatible with older versions
  160.                     of AmigaWorld.

  162. Version 3.1    o This new version was developed with version 4.3 of the
  163. (30-jul-1994)       m2Amiga system.
  164. [Fred Fish,    o It contains a new routine for reading IFF files that replaces
  165.  other              the old one which was faster but contained a bug.
  166.  PD-series,    o If Kickstart 2.0 is available windows have got the "new look",
  167.  several            i.e. they are somewhat 3d-like.
  168.  mailboxes]    o The font requester of ASL.library is used if this library is
  169.                     provided in the libs: directory.
  170.                o A bug was fixed: The memory for menu strips and items is
  171.                     deallocated as soon as a window is closed, not any more

  174. Version 4.0    o AmigaWorld displays a text about nature, population, economy
  175. (30-aug-1994)       and history of a country. About 80% of the texts are done,
  176.                     the other ones will be finished in a few months. Author of
  177.                     these informative texts is Bo Arnholm who has already
  178.                     translated AmigaWorld into Swedish!
  179.                o Includes data on Palestine.

  181. Version 4.1    o Includes a text about each and every country! But some do not
  182. (27-sep-1994)       contain information on economy and history.
  183.                o All continent descriptions have been translated into English.

  185. Version 4.2    o AmigaWorld co-operates with graphic expansions in a better
  186. (18-oct-1994)       way now, at least if you have got Kickstart 2.1 or greater:
