- ====================
-
- AnigaWorld was developed with an Amiga 2000.
- Technical data until version 3.0:
- Processor MC68000 (7 Mhz) · Fat Agnus · 5 MByte RAM ·
- GVP-Serie-II-SCSI with Quantum LPS 120 · Kickstart 1.3/2.0 · m2Amiga 3.32d
- Since version 3.0 this new equipment is used:
- Processor MC68000 (28 Mhz) · Kickstart 1.3/2.1 · ECS-Denise · m2Amiga 4.3
- All new hard- and software could be paid with registration fees.
- Thanks to all registered users!
-
- History
- =======
-
- Version 1.0 o The first working and useful version of AmigaWorld.
- (01-jan-1993) Published as a freeware version with some limitations
- [Fish #804] on AmigaLibDisk #804.
-
- Version 1.01 o Added manual selection/deselection of countries (with the
- (24-mar-1993) right mouse button)
- [internal] o Most menu selections are restored after changing font, screen
- mode or language.
- o Some internal improvements that are not visible to the user.
-
- Version 1.02 o Invented code numbers for the countries. See the chapter
- (28-mar-1993) 'awo.data' in the documentation file for details.
- o Some minor optical bugs were fixed.
-
- Version 1.03 o AmigaWorld does now also contain Swedish data files. They
- (01-apr-1993) were written by Bo Arnholm of Mölndal near Gothenburg.
- Thank you Bo!
-
- Version 1.1 o Added data about currencies.
- (07-apr-1993) o AmigaWorld can now also express itself in Dutch. The Dutch
- [Fish #851] data files were created by Ruud Hoekzema of Driebergen
- near Utrecht. Thank you, Ruud!
- o The numbers that appear in the country window are now
- displayed as groups of three figures. That makes them
- more readable.
- o Fixed a bug that caused the program to terminate when you
- changed from a language with a long name to a language
- with a short name.
- (e.g. "Nederlands" (10 chars) -> "Deutsch" (7 chars))
- o Removed the menu short cuts. They seemed quite useless to me
- in the end.
-
- Version 1.11 o Fixed a bug that caused the program to quit if you tried to
- (13-arp-1993) use a font with a name longer than 10 chars.
- o Fixed a bug that made topaz font look rather strange if you
- had already used another font before.
- o If there are open country windows when you change language,
- font, or screen mode, the country windows are adapted to
- your new selections.
- o You can close info and config windows via the keyboard now:
- Press return to confirm changes or any other key to undo
- and exit.
- o The width of the menus in the screen title bar is adapted to
- the length of the texts they contain, making the Swedish
- version look better.
-
- Version 2.0 o The flags of all independent countries and some dependencies
- (13-jun-1993) are displayed together with the other data.
- [Fish #893] o The religions which are most common in a country are listed.
- o AmigaWorld tells you about membership in important inter-
- national organisations (independent countries only).
- o You can also get a short description and all members of these
- organisations by selecting the menu item "Search for" /
- "Organisation".
- o The data about languages has become more precise.
- o AmigaWorld first calculates the size of a country window and
- THEN opens it. No more giant windows that are shrinked
- later on!
- o If the data about a country is already displayed, you cannot
- open its window again.
- o Minor optical improvements, e.g. in the window that pops up
- when an error occurs in the country data.
- o The freeware and the full functional version use the same
- output file now. The few different output texts are held
- internaly.
- o Every text in 'awo.data' had a maximum length of 80 chars in
- older versions. Now those texts that are displayed in the
- country window can be 120 chars long, the other ones (for
- the search funtcion) only 30 chars long. That's why some
- data became more precise, without eating up more memory.
- o A new country is born: Welcome, Eritrea!
-
- Version 2.01 o It is now possible to get a list of a country and all its
- (01-jul-1993) dependencies by typing its abbreviation in the search
- gadget (when "Search for"/"Name" is selected).
-
- Version 2.02 o A Finnish translation of AmigaWorld was created by Mika
- (11-jan-1994) Leinonen of Ylitornio, Finland. Thank you Mika!
- o Four Australian Island Territories were added.
- o All numeric data was updated.
- o The font has got a better name now: It's called "Beatles".
-
- Version 2.03 o Two new translations are available: French and Italian users
- (28-feb-1994) can "talk" with AmigaWorld in their native languages, too.
-
- Version 2.1 o AmigaWorld is now available in Danish.
- (07-mar-1994) o Line two of 'awo.output' does now contain the char which
- [Finnish PD divides decimal numbers, i.e. either point or comma.
- series] o Three dependencies were added: Åland, Ashmore/Cartier and
- Galapagos.
- o The flags of several dependencies were added.
- o The location line in the data file can contain more than
- one entry now, making the search function more efficient.
- o The source code is not included in the fully funtional
- version anymore. Nobody was interested anyway, and I
- spend one diskette and a bit of copying time less.
- o The price of AmigaWorld has increased (it's the inflation,
- you know?). You have to pay ten more Deutsche Mark to
- receive the fully functional version. Clever users can
- claim to have read the doc files of an older version.
-
- Version 3.0 o If you click on the little map with the left mouse button
- (02-jun-1994) a big world map pops up. Now you can select a continent
- that does also appear on a map. When clicking on a country
- its data will be displayed.
- o The map window contains a little menu. When you select the
- item "description" a text about the continent on the map
- will be displayed.
- o Until now, the selection in the country list was restored by
- clicking the little map. This function belongs to a new
- item in the "Selection" menu now.
- o The country windows also have got a little menu: The first
- item is not implemented yet, the second one makes Amiga-
- World display one of its ten maps, showing the country's
- location.
- o The third item enables you to get a list of all dependencies
- of a country; or to call the data of its mother country.
- o The "Sort" menu of the main window contains one more item:
- It enables you to turn around the order of the country
- list.
- o The procedure that displays text about continents, organiz-
- ations (and soon countries) works with bold, italic and
- red text now.
- o You can softly scroll up and down in these text by using two
- arrows. I like it better then the proportinal gadget.
- o The arrangement of the interlace screen has been extremely
- improved, waste of space was reduced. All countries of
- a continent can now be displayed in the list at once.
- o The file "awo.output" contains 50 more lines, for new output
- texts. Therefore it is not compatible with older versions
- of AmigaWorld.
-
- Version 3.1 o This new version was developed with version 4.3 of the
- (30-jul-1994) m2Amiga system.
- [Fred Fish, o It contains a new routine for reading IFF files that replaces
- other the old one which was faster but contained a bug.
- PD-series, o If Kickstart 2.0 is available windows have got the "new look",
- several i.e. they are somewhat 3d-like.
- mailboxes] o The font requester of ASL.library is used if this library is
- provided in the libs: directory.
- o A bug was fixed: The memory for menu strips and items is
- deallocated as soon as a window is closed, not any more
- at the end of the program.
-
- Version 4.0 o AmigaWorld displays a text about nature, population, economy
- (30-aug-1994) and history of a country. About 80% of the texts are done,
- the other ones will be finished in a few months. Author of
- these informative texts is Bo Arnholm who has already
- translated AmigaWorld into Swedish!
- o Includes data on Palestine.
-
- Version 4.1 o Includes a text about each and every country! But some do not
- (27-sep-1994) contain information on economy and history.
- o All continent descriptions have been translated into English.
-
- Version 4.2 o AmigaWorld co-operates with graphic expansions in a better
- (18-oct-1994) way now, at least if you have got Kickstart 2.1 or greater:
- [Westium Data, At the start and every time you select the menu item
- mailboxes] "Configurartion"/"Screen Mode" a requester comes up that
- asks you for screen mode, width and height.
-
- Version 4.3 o You can now modify the size of the window where country and
- (22-oct-1994) other text descriptions are displayed.
- [AMOK] o A bug was fixed: Text does not flow outside this window
- anymore.
-
- Version 4.31 o All numeric data was updated (for all languages), some of the
- (01-jan-1995) other data was made more precise in the English and German
- [Time] files.
-
- Version 4.32 o Bjarne Bjørnsen from Trondheim translated all data into
- (10-jan-1995) Norwegian. Thanks!
- [Fish]
